Unit Manager for Gothenburg City Mission's Kitchen and Restaurants

ABOUT US The Kitchen and Restaurant unit is part of Gothenburg City Mission's food-related activities, within the area of Work Integration. An important part of our mission is to offer work training for people who are far from the labor market. In all our activities, we combine cooking with social commitment. With us, people have the opportunity to develop, strengthen their skills, and take steps closer to work or studies. Together we prepare high-quality meals while contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive society. The Kitchen and Restaurant unit consists of two large kitchens and a restaurant, located in different parts of Gothenburg. The large kitchens deliver hot and packaged cold food to both City Mission's own activities and to external customers. At Restaurant Svinn, we serve lunch and also work with catering for both workplaces and private individuals through procurement with the City of Gothenburg. We strive to cook with ingredients from our Food Center as much as possible. There we receive food that has been donated to Gothenburg City Mission for various reasons and that would otherwise have risked becoming food waste. By using these ingredients, we reduce food waste and contribute to a more sustainable food system. We are now seeking an engaged and development-oriented unit manager for our Kitchen and Restaurant unit. Here you will have the opportunity to combine present leadership with business development, economics, and quality – while contributing to creating opportunities for people through work training and sustainable meal solutions. ABOUT THE POSITION As unit manager, you have overall responsibility for the operations, including staff, work environment, economics, and development, while each unit in daily work is primarily led by a head chef. You lead through your head chefs and work closely with them to create a well-functioning organization with high quality, a good work environment, and clear goals. You report to the Operations Manager for the Food area and are part of the operations area's management group together with two other unit managers. Together with the Operations Manager, you drive the strategic development of Gothenburg City Mission's combined food operations. Through close collaboration, you contribute to developing the business, strengthening quality, and creating even greater social impact. Your responsibility as unit manager includes ensuring that you: secure stable, efficient, and quality operations in all activities and that the unit achieves its development goals lead, develop, and follow up on head chefs and other employees and collaboration between kitchens secure high quality in work training through good introduction, clear procedures, and well-functioning mentoring secure systematic work environment management manage budget, forecasts, and financial follow-up and create conditions for long-term sustainable economics Since food is a central part of Gothenburg City Mission's operations, you are also a key player in developing collaboration with, for example, our Food Center and other suppliers. We require that you have university education in, for example, nutrition, economics, social work, or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent have at least two years of work experience with personnel and results responsibility have at least three years of work experience from restaurant, large kitchen, or meal service operations speak and write Swedish fluently have good computer skills and administrative ability and have worked in Office 365 have a B-class driver's license and are comfortable driving for business purposes It is meritorious if you have experience from work in mission-driven organizations, social activities, or work training.
