Work Tasks We are now seeking an additional unit manager who, together with the current manager, wants to lead the operation into the next phase of development. On October 1, 2026, Region Västmanland will take over the entire pharmaceutical supply in-house. This means that Pharmacy Service will have a combined responsibility for dispensing and providing the medications that care operations need. As a unit manager, you will together with the current unit manager have joint responsibility for operations, personnel, work environment, and finances. In your role as manager, you will lead and develop the operation together based on the goals, processes, and financial frameworks provided. Within these frameworks, you have the freedom and responsibility to work toward developing an efficient, quality, and attractive operation with a sustainable and stimulating work environment for employees. Initially, the assignment entails close and equal shared leadership, where the division of responsibilities will develop progressively as the operation changes. As a manager, you represent the employer. This means that you work according to and convey the perspectives and positions that the employer holds. You work in close collaboration with other managers and employees. As a manager, you represent Region Västmanland and your operation both internally and externally. About the Workplace Pharmacy Service is Region Västmanland's hospital pharmacy function and part of Clinical Pharmacy. The operation is responsible for pharmaceutical supply, manufacturing, and several care-related pharmaceutical services that support healthcare's medication processes. Clinical Pharmacy is additionally responsible for clinical pharmacy and several region-wide medication functions. Pharmacy Service is facing the largest change in the operation's history. On October 1, 2026, Region Västmanland will take over the entire pharmaceutical supply in-house. Preparations include new IT systems, building a regional medication warehouse, and developing new working methods. The change entails full responsibility for hospitals' pharmaceutical supply and will be of great significance for healthcare's robustness, accessibility, and preparedness. The development does not stop at taking over the pharmaceutical supply. The coming years will be characterized by several strategically important initiatives, particularly those related to NAV – New Acute Hospital Västerås. When the first phase is launched in 2029, Pharmacy Service will have a central role in developing workflows and medication supplies in new care facilities. In 2030, a new production facility for cytostatic manufacturing will be launched, creating new opportunities for the operation's continued development. Today, approximately 30 employees work within Pharmacy Service. The operation includes pharmaceutical supply, medication dispensing machines, medication service, ward pharmacy, and manufacturing of cytostatics, sterile extemporaneous preparations, and radiopharmaceuticals. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is a licensed pharmacist, pharmacy technician, or has other academic education in healthcare. We consider it highly meritorious if you have leadership experience and have driven development and change projects. Experience working in hospital pharmacy or other areas of healthcare is meritorious. Our work is governed by documents that are often in Swedish, and you therefore need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. A class B driver's license is required for the position.
