About Us
Healthcare is Region Sörmland's largest business area with approximately 6,500 employees. We are undergoing extensive transformation work with the goal of optimizing resource utilization, improving care flows, and creating a safer patient experience. The region's hospitals have been modernized, new technology has been implemented, and collaborations are being developed both within and outside the region to ensure high-quality care. Healthcare in Region Sörmland is organized into five divisions—surgery, medicine, medical services, primary care, and psychiatry and disabilities.
The divisions conduct their operations throughout the region and primarily at the region's three acute care hospitals: Mälarsjukhuset in Eskilstuna (MSE), Nyköpings lasarett (NLN), and Kullbergska sjukhuset in Katrineholm (KSK), as well as at Region Sörmland's health centers. Each division is led by a division manager who reports directly to the healthcare director.
The Care Quality unit is part of Quality & Operations Support and belongs to the Medical Services Division. Although the business and unit are new, parts of the operations have existed previously in other forms.
Medical Services Division comprises ten different operations, all of which support and contribute to the patient's journey through care. Operations included are: 1177, Ambulance Services & Healthcare Emergency Central, Assistive Devices Center, Clinical Physiology, Clinical Chemistry (lab), Quality & Operations Support, Medical Physics & Technology, Radiology, and the Rehabilitation Clinic. The Quality & Operations Support business encompasses the units Care Quality, Clinical Competence & Education Center, and the Resource Unit. The shared mission of Quality & Operations Support is to support operations in their work with safe care and contribute to improved care quality for people who need healthcare in Region Sörmland.
The Care Quality unit includes Patient Safety Coordinators, Synergy Managers, and Discharge Coordinators. The unit's shared mission is to support healthcare operations in their work on safe care. The competencies gathered within the unit have a unique opportunity to identify, understand, and act for safer care for our patients.
Your Responsibilities
As a unit manager, you lead an organization with approximately 10 employees and are responsible for the unit's development, improvement initiatives, budget, personnel, and work environment. Since the unit has a healthcare-wide mission to support operations, it involves many collaborative contacts. You lead the unit's work and collaborate closely with other managers and operations to ensure high-quality and efficient care. Since the unit is new in its composition, clear inclusive leadership is needed to create the best conditions. A central part of your work will be to continue developing collaboration with the various healthcare operations and contribute to the development of new working methods that benefit our patients.
As a unit manager, you work half your time as a manager and leader in the unit. The other half of your work time you work either as a patient safety coordinator or clinically in another operation.
You report directly to the operations manager for Quality & Operations Support and are part of the operations' management group together with the operations' other unit managers.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for an engaged and present leader. Your leadership should contribute to a positive work climate, good health, and a good work environment where influence, participation, and development are prerequisites for all employees. We are looking for someone who has:
- professional licensure in healthcare
- documented management experience within healthcare
- experience with operations development, change management, and strategic governance
- strong ability to plan, organize, and simultaneously be flexible and adapt to new conditions
- ability to drive change initiatives that benefit healthcare operations and patients
- training in management and leadership is meritorious
As a leader, you have the ability to handle strategic, tactical, and operational issues. You create engagement and participation through a communicative and collaboration-oriented leadership style. You have a strong ability to collaborate and work with complex issues and see the big picture as a matter of course. We place great importance on personal qualities.
