Do you want to lead Skärholmen's park recreation activities and help shape a new unit focused on safe meeting places and meaningful leisure for children and young people? We are now looking for a unit manager for the Park Recreation Unit – a new role with significant authority to build, develop, and influence operations together with engaged employees. Welcome to us The Prevention and Promotion Department works with promoting, early, and treatment interventions for children, young people, and families in operations characterized by development and engagement. The department is part of the Individual and Family Services Division, including leisure and park recreation, and is led by a department manager, unit managers, and support resources. Within the department, we are in a development phase where we shape working methods to meet the district's needs. To strengthen our work with flexible, mobile, and outreach services, we are reorganizing our Leisure Operations into two units: the Youth Center Unit and the Park Recreation Unit. We are now seeking a unit manager for the newly established Park Recreation Unit. The new organization formally takes effect at the turn of the year 2026/2027, and until then, you will collaborate with the current manager of youth center operations and the rest of the management team to shape the new units. Your role Your unit focuses on promotion and early interventions for children, young people, and parents, with special emphasis on the target group of children and young people ages 7 to 12. The assignment is guided by Stockholm's strategy for park recreation, which provides direction for park recreation's work in providing the city's children with meaningful leisure and access to safe meeting places. In your role, you will lead approximately ten leisure staff and be responsible for personnel, budget, and work environment. You are responsible for the district's three park recreation facilities and one middle school activity program located in separate facilities in Bredäng, Sätra, and Vårberg, as well as at the school facility in Sätra. Much of the work is conducted in collaboration with the Youth Center Unit, and you will work closely with that unit manager. With present and clear leadership, you create conditions for quality, development, and job satisfaction. You drive development, strengthen structures, and contribute to the department's collective work as well as collaboration internally and externally through administration-wide partnerships and city-wide networks. You are part of the Culture Administration's manager network for Park Recreation. Your competence and experience We are looking for someone who has • a completed higher education degree in pedagogy, child and family studies, public health, social work, or other relevant field • current experience leading and delegating work in a management role • experience working in activities for children and young people • experience driving development and/or collaboration projects with documented good results • strong skills in Swedish, both spoken and written It is advantageous if you have • management experience with responsibility for personnel, budget, and work environment • experience leading open activities for children and young people, such as work groups in park recreation, youth centers, or open preschools • good understanding of work in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas • good knowledge of social services' mandate and authority in matters concerning children and young people Personal abilities and skills We are looking for a confident and present leader who builds trust and engagement in your surroundings. Other information Your working hours are Monday through Friday with on-call duty according to schedule. Evening and weekend work may occur.
