Job Responsibilities Would you like to help develop the staffing unit within the preschool administration? We are now seeking a fourth unit manager for staffing with great commitment and a drive for what's best for the children in our city. In fall 2024, the preschool administration launched a new staffing unit with permanent employees. Having permanent staff in the staffing unit helps us leverage the expertise within the administration. Our approach to organizing staff in the staffing unit is designed to provide greater continuity for both employees and children in the preschools. This should lead to a better work environment and reduced sick leave. The staffing unit should be an attractive workplace where employees have opportunities for development and the ability to influence and take responsibility for carrying out their assignments. As a unit manager, you lead, organize, recruit, and develop the unit together with colleagues and employees. You manage both permanent and hourly substitute staff as well as administrators and HR specialists within the staffing unit. The role also includes follow-up responsibilities encompassing personnel, budget, and workplace environment accountability. You ensure that the staffing unit delivers qualified staff to the administration's preschools every day according to operational needs. You continuously follow up, evaluate, and analyze to ensure we develop our working methods in ways that deliver quality for the children. In your role as unit manager, you work closely with school principals, administrative managers, and other support functions within the administration as well as labor unions. Unit managers report to the operations manager and are part of the area's management group. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: • University degree equivalent to 180 credits in education relevant to the position, such as HR, economics, or pedagogy • Leadership experience with personnel management responsibility, preferably within the unit's area of responsibility or equivalent within public operations • Knowledge and experience within the unit's area of responsibility Meritorious: • Completed leadership development program/training or preparatory management training • Knowledge and/or experience in financial management and resource allocation • Knowledge of laws/regulations and collective agreements related to employer responsibility as well as governing documents, such as the Education Act • Good familiarity with preschool operations Personal Competencies: We are looking for someone who is a clear and effective communicator whose ideas gain traction. Through persuasive arguments and strong commitment, you can bring enthusiasm and energy that encourages high performance, teamwork, and increased motivation. You listen to others with the purpose of understanding their needs. You actively seek out others' perspectives and viewpoints and are receptive to them by showing respect, consideration, and care. You work to build cohesion in the work group and view setbacks as learning opportunities, creating space for dialogue. You are further motivated by clearly defined goals and have the ability to translate them into concrete action. With focus on the goal, you can reprioritize work when circumstances change, follow up on and report results and goal achievement. You place your own operations' significance in a larger context and collaborate on overarching matters to create added value. You consider different information sources and perspectives and can adapt others' ideas to your own operations. You can effectively identify and analyze the core of a problem and suggest possible solutions. You have the ability to see connections and can draw logical conclusions based on limited and/or complex information. We welcome your application! Interviews are planned for the afternoon of September 1st and morning of September 4th. Other Information If you have protected personal information, you should not apply through the recruitment system. Instead, contact Gothenburg City's contact center at 031-365 00 00.
