We have one of the world's most important jobs – we work for sustainable communities. Join us on the journey toward future wastewater solutions! Do you want to be part of developing future wastewater treatment while leading a group of specialists with crucial expertise for our operations? Gästrike Vatten's mission is to make people's everyday lives easier and contribute to sustainable community development in our five owner municipalities: Gävle, Hofors, Ockelbo, Älvkarleby, and Östhammar. The water and wastewater industry is in a period of major change. New requirements, a changing climate, growing communities, and the need for long-term sustainable and resource-efficient solutions place high demands on both today's and tomorrow's wastewater treatment. With us, you have the opportunity to influence that development. We are now seeking a Unit Manager Technical for the Wastewater Division. You will have a central role in developing our technical capabilities in wastewater treatment and creating good conditions for the unit's employees to contribute their specialized expertise. With us, you will have rewarding work with great involvement and personal responsibility in a workplace characterized by strong commitment. 1 position(s). DUTIES As Unit Manager Technical, you will lead and develop a specialist function within the wastewater area. You have personnel responsibility for the unit's four environmental and process engineers and one business developer, and you are responsible for operations, work environment, economics, planning, and follow-up. An important part of your assignment is to create structure and direction for the unit's work while giving employees room to develop and use their specialized expertise. You lead through clear goals, priorities, and expectations and create conditions for good collaboration both within the unit and with other parts of the organization. The role involves switching between strategic, tactical, and operational issues. Based on operational needs and your expertise, you may also participate in or drive technical assignments in areas such as process and treatment technology. You will also have an important role as project manager for investments and improvements within the unit's area of responsibility. Here, you need to be able to translate operational needs into clear assignments and help ensure that the right solutions are developed with consideration for functionality, economics, environment, work environment, and long-term asset management. Together with your unit, you are responsible for: · developing and optimizing wastewater treatment processes · initiating and conducting technical investigations and developing long-term sustainable solutions from, among other perspectives, a circular economy and resource perspective · ensuring regulatory compliance and monitoring as well as implementing new and upcoming requirements into operational needs and measures · working with consultations, permits, and other regulatory-related matters in relevant areas · developing cooperation with authorities, municipalities, and other internal and external stakeholders · contributing to systematic work with quality, processes, and efficient working methods · ensuring management and continued development of facility information · ensuring relevant reporting to authorities · providing specialized expertise and technical support to operations, investments, and other parts of the organization. We are facing several exciting development needs within the wastewater area. As unit manager, you will therefore have the opportunity to develop both the unit's working methods, competencies, and responsibilities. It is about meeting today's needs, but also about building the capability required for tomorrow's wastewater treatment. On-call availability may be part of the position. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you as a confident and development-oriented leader with experience in management or leadership positions. We would like to see that you have experience leading specialists or other knowledge-intensive operations where leadership is about creating direction and conditions rather than having all the answers yourself. You have a higher education degree in a relevant technical or natural science field, or alternatively other education and experience that we consider equivalent. Experience from water and wastewater operations, wastewater treatment, process industry, environmental technology, or other related activities is desirable. It is also desirable if you have experience working with or commissioning complex projects and investments. To succeed in the role, you need to be able to understand technical issues and place them in a broader operational perspective. You do not need to be the foremost specialist in every area – your strength lies in being able to lead expertise, ask the right questions, create priorities, and get different parts of the organization to work toward common goals. You see opportunities for improvement and have the ability to translate ideas and needs into concrete development. At the same time, you understand the value of change happening together with those affected and that sustainable results are created through participation. You are a relationship-building leader who thrives with many points of contact. You listen to different perspectives, communicate clearly, and have the ability to build trust and good cooperation between specialists, operations, projects, management, and external stakeholders. You are also comfortable with circumstances sometimes changing. You can reprioritize when the organization requires it without losing sight of the big picture or long-term goals. As a manager, you are curious about both people and technology. You create engagement, encourage initiative, and give your employees the opportunity to develop and take responsibility. At the same time, you are clear about goals, priorities, and expectations. A Class B driver's license is required. Employment type: Permanent. Duration: Permanent. Probationary employment may apply. Interviews, selection, and appointment of the position may take place before the final application deadline, so submit your application today. Warmly welcome with your application!
