The Swedish State Institute for Special Youth Care (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for youth with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse disorders. SiS also operates closed youth care facilities. We do this at youth homes and residential treatment facilities for adults throughout the country. Working at SiS means your professional life becomes an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you help create vital change. SiS youth home Margretelund serves non-school-aged girls and boys with psychosocial issues, criminal behavior, and substance abuse problems. We have operations in Lidköping and near Falköping. Job Description We are seeking a unit manager for our Lidköping facility. Here we have departments for intake and needs assessment (MBB) and treatment. This position will be placed on a secure treatment unit. On a treatment unit, we work with youth who have completed the initial stabilization phase on the MBB unit. The focus here is long-term change through education and structured treatment. The goal is to help youth develop tools to manage their behavior, strengthen their self-esteem, and prepare themselves for a life without crime, substance abuse, or other socially destructive patterns. As a unit manager, you hold operational, personnel, and budget responsibility for the unit. You lead, plan, follow up on, and refine the work on the unit so that you achieve set goals. You also have overall treatment responsibility for the youth at the unit. You ensure that common work methods and approaches are used and followed, and you support staff in their work. You ensure that staff have the competence for the care and treatment the unit provides and the conditions needed to perform their duties in a good and safe work environment. In addition, you participate in the institution's management group, where you together with the institution director and your management colleagues take shared responsibility for the entire operation. Since operations are often event-driven, you need to be comfortable making decisions, reprioritizing, and quickly adapting both pace and direction. You remain calm and professional even in demanding situations and have the ability to adapt to changed conditions. At the same time, high demands are placed on you to have a holistic perspective and work in a structured and systematic way to ensure the quality of care based on the agency's goals, guidelines, values, and applicable laws. You know how to prioritize and find it easy to set goals and follow up on results. To fit this role, we see that you take responsibility for the whole and realize SiS's vision and goals. You create conditions for good results and tackle challenges and act with courage when needed. You are a good role model and show trust in your staff's and colleagues' competence and encourage them to develop and take personal responsibility. You involve your staff in our development work and create conditions for active engagement and a learning organization. You promote good cooperation within SiS and with other partners. You are communicative and create dialogue, participation, and engagement. With us, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and engaged colleagues and daily meet staff who are passionate about making a difference for youth. The position includes on-call duty outside regular office hours. Qualifications At SiS, we value good leadership. This means that as a manager and leader, you take responsibility for the whole, act as a good role model, drive development, promote good cooperation, and communicate clearly.
