The Swedish Prison and Probation Service (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individualized compulsory care for young people and adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also operates closed youth care. We do this at youth facilities and homes for adults with substance abuse issues throughout the country. Working with us at SiS means your work life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create vital change. SiS youth facility Folåsa receives school-age girls with psychosocial problems as well as criminal behavior and substance abuse. Job Description SiS is undergoing extensive transformation where operations are being developed on multiple fronts simultaneously. We develop and adapt our work based on new and changing needs in both society and our own operations. We know that developing and engaged managers are a crucial prerequisite for meeting today's and tomorrow's challenges. SiS youth facility Folåsa currently has five departments and is expected to expand with two additional departments by the end of 2027. SiS youth facility Folåsa is now seeking a unit manager for our open department Allén, which is an important part of the youth facility's care chain and has seven care places. The young people are given the opportunity there to prepare in more open forms for moving out of the institution. The current manager will transition to another management position within the institution and will be part of introducing you as the new manager. As unit manager, you lead, plan, follow up, and refine the work in the department so that you achieve set goals. You have overall treatment responsibility for the young people at the department. Furthermore, you have operational, personnel, and budget responsibility for the department's approximately 15-20 employees. To assist you in your work, you have a group leader, a treatment secretary, and department staff consisting of a treatment coordinator, treatment pedagogues, and treatment assistants. Leadership is operationally close and you meet both staff and the placed young people almost daily. As a unit manager, you need to be comfortable making decisions that can sometimes be difficult and be confident in handling people in different situations. You may encounter difficult events and need to be confident in guiding staff in both quick and comprehensive decisions. Leadership also includes methodology development, documentation, and follow-up as important parts. You are responsible for ensuring that common working methods and practices are used and adhered to and support employees in their work. You ensure that employees have the competence for the care and treatment that the department provides and the conditions to perform their tasks in a good and safe work environment. You also participate in the institution's management on-call duty according to a rotating schedule. At the institution, active management group work is ongoing where you as unit manager have a natural role and there are good opportunities to work for the entire institution's development. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: An academic degree of at least 180 credits with a focus on social sciences, healthcare, or behavioral sciences, or another relevant academic degree. Several years of experience working in operations focused on care, treatment, and safety, such as social services, healthcare and treatment, criminal justice, or other relevant operations. Documented current experience in a management role. Driver's license category B It is advantageous if you have: Experience in a management position with operational responsibility, budget responsibility, and personnel responsibility. Since operations are often event-driven, you need to be comfortable making decisions, reprioritizing, and quickly being able to change both pace and direction. You are calm and professional even in demanding situations and have the ability to adapt to changed circumstances. At the same time, there are high demands on you having a holistic view and being able to work in a structured and systematic way to ensure the quality of care based on the authority's goals, guidelines, values, and applicable laws. You know how to prioritize and have an easy time setting goals and following up on results. To fit the role, we see that you take responsibility for the whole and realize SiS' vision and goals. You create conditions for good results and tackle challenges and act with courage when needed. You are a good role model and show confidence in your employees' and colleagues' competence and encourage them to develop and take personal responsibility. You involve your employees in our development work and create conditions for active employee engagement and a learning organization. You promote good cooperation within SiS and with other partners. You are communicative and create dialogue, participation, and engagement. At SiS, we value good leadership. This means that you as a manager and leader take responsibility for the whole, act as a good role model, drive development, promote good cooperation, and are clear in your communication.
