Large industrial investments are taking place in northern Sweden, including in Gällivare municipality, which presents exciting challenges for the rescue service in the dynamic risk landscape we find ourselves in. Gällivare Rescue Service is part of the rescue management system Räddsam Nord with a total of 19 member municipalities stretching from Nordmaling in the south to Kiruna in the north, where approximately 500,000 residents live. The workplace consists of approximately 30 employees. In addition, there are five rescue corps and one contracted industrial fire brigade. We work for a safer and more secure Gällivare! Job Responsibilities As unit chief for the Damage Mitigation Unit within the Rescue Department, you report directly to the rescue chief and are part of the department's management team. You are the direct supervisor and have occupational health and safety responsibility for employees within the Damage Mitigation Unit (approximately 20 full-time employees plus rescue corps members). Your duties also include operational and budget responsibility for parts of the rescue service's total operations (operational areas of Operations, Operational Development, and Learning & Evaluation). You are responsible for managing, monitoring, and developing operations for your assigned responsibilities. If you are assessed as having appropriate competence and based on your personal qualities, staffing in an incident commander function may become relevant. Qualifications You have leadership qualities where you are confident in yourself, communicative, responsible, flexible, and driven by the development of both individuals and operations. To be considered for the position, you must have experience from the rescue service or documented good insight into rescue service work. This background is crucial for you to quickly take responsibility, make the right decisions, and contribute to safe and professional operations. It is meritorious if you have a degree from MCF's leadership course for force leaders, an older equivalent education, or higher leadership training based on MCF's training structure. It is also meritorious to have relevant education in leadership and occupational health and safety, experience from previous management positions with associated personnel and budget responsibility, and experience working in municipal rescue service with both preventive and operational tasks. You should have good ability to express yourself in writing and speech in both Swedish and English and be comfortable with technical support tools. Great weight is placed on your personal qualities. Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare municipality is an administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is meritorious when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality. The position requires that you have at least a Class B driver's license. The position may involve security vetting. Probation may be applied. The basis of the position is daytime service combined with on-call duty in a management function as an incident commander. If you are assessed as suitable based on your competence and personal qualities for any of the shared management functions within Räddsam Nord, the position may also eventually include such combination duties.
