Description:

Building Permits and Environment In the Building Permits and Environment department, we share responsibility for managing the region's building permit cases and work together for the environment on Gotland. We have recently implemented an organizational restructuring to develop and strengthen our operations. The Building Permits and Environment department has been established, and our activities have transitioned from being a separate department to now being merged with Region Gotland's environmental and food safety supervision. Within Planning and Building Permits operations, two units handle building permit cases, and one unit is responsible for inspection and supervision. Through the new organization, we have created better conditions for close leadership, strengthened management capability, and enabled better collaboration between operations and units. The restructuring also aims to ensure a good work environment for both employees and managers and create increased opportunities to achieve our set goals. Would you like to be part of continuing to develop our operations together with us? Welcome! Your Responsibilities As a unit manager in the Building Permits and Environment department, you hold overall responsibility for leading, driving, and developing the unit's daily and operational work, as well as monitoring the achievement of operational goals, productivity, and quality. You provide operationally close and trust-based leadership and work environment responsibility for approximately 15 employees, which includes workplace meetings, employee conversations, salary discussions, and individual competency development plans. You are also responsible for recruiting and staffing new employees and planning their onboarding. The position involves budget responsibility, including financial planning and monitoring, as well as responsibility for the unit's internal processes (procedures, processes, monitoring, supporting methodology development). You are expected to guide and provide support in case handling. In your role as unit manager, you create, maintain, and further develop collaboration and dialogue with internal and external stakeholders and networks, such as the business community. You will also participate in the department's management group and contribute to the development of the department, administration, and Region Gotland as a whole. You are expected in your daily work to collaborate, lead, and create engagement together with your fellow unit manager colleagues and the department manager in the implementation of the above. Who Are You? We are looking for someone with relevant academic education in the subject areas and/or other relevant education and experience that we can assess as equivalent. You have management experience as well as knowledge and experience working with the Planning and Building Act (PBL) and other municipal legislation within the field. We appreciate it if you have experience from the public sector as well as from the business world or private sector with similar matters. It is also meritorious if you have experience with public authority functions. We are looking for someone who is confident and stable in your professional role and who has a high degree of personal maturity. You are a clear and communicative leader who finds it easy to build trust, convey messages, and drive work forward in an engaging manner.
