As a Unit Manager for Waste and Collection, you will have a central role in developing and ensuring sustainable and efficient waste management in Skellefteå Municipality. The operation has undergone major changes in recent years, including the introduction of property-near collection and four-compartment containers. The focus now is on continuing to develop the operation, create efficient work methods, and ensure well-functioning collection for the municipality's residents. YOUR ROLE As Unit Manager for Waste and Collection, you are responsible for an operation that collects household waste and packaging from the municipality's households as well as waste from certain businesses and activities. You have overall responsibility for the operation, finances, work environment, and staff. The assignment also includes responsibility for the contractors who carry out parts of the collection in the municipality's outer areas. An important part of the role is to continue developing the operation together with your staff. This involves both creating conditions for well-functioning operations in daily work and driving development initiatives that contribute to efficient, sustainable, and customer-focused waste management. You work closely with other units within the Water and Waste operation and are part of the management team where you collectively work to develop the operation as a whole. YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE We are looking for someone with experience leading operations and staff as well as developing work methods, operations, or organizations. You have post-secondary education from a university or college, or work experience that has given you equivalent knowledge. It is advantageous if you have experience from waste operations, environmental work, or other activities focused on logistics, operations, or public services. To succeed in this role, you need to be confident in your leadership and have the ability to create participation, engagement, and accountability in the group. You collaborate well with others and build trusting relationships with both staff, colleagues, and external partners. You work in a structured manner and have the ability to plan, prioritize, and follow up on operations when multiple issues are ongoing simultaneously. The role involves many contact points, which requires you to communicate well in Swedish both verbally and in writing. You have good digital skills. Experience with EDP Future or similar business systems is advantageous. A Class B driver's license is required. For this position, you must, according to law, present a current criminal record extract from the Police Authority before potential employment.
