Your responsibilities
As a unit manager, you are responsible for work environment, finances, personnel, and operations. You will manage approximately 20 employees divided into three teams at the main library and at the branch libraries in Ljungsbro and Malmslätt. You will be part of the library's management group together with two other unit managers and the library director. In close collaboration, you will lead the library's development work forward. The library is at a stage where several different areas need to be developed to meet societal changes. Examples of development areas you will be responsible for leading include the library's strategic IT development and work to strengthen the library's democratic mission.
Your workplace
Linköping City Library consists of approximately 70 employees who conduct operations at 12 locations. Together we work to run and develop Linköping City Library. We want the library to be an interactive meeting place for everyone. Central to us is working with democracy, education, and culture. We work to support prioritized target groups, operate outside our own facilities, collaborate with other organizations, and increase participatory culture. We will create space for new thinking and open up for new cultural expressions in close cooperation with other cultural organizations.
Linköping City Library, together with other public libraries in Östergötland and Tranås, forms Götabiblioteken. The goal of Götabiblioteken is to bring people together, make knowledge come alive, awaken imagination, and enable everyone to discover and learn to create a strong and sustainable society where everyone can achieve their dreams.
About you
We are looking for someone who thrives in a management role and sees the value in being close to your employees to be able to lead operational development. You have a university or college degree in an area relevant to the position. You have previous experience working in a supervisory capacity, such as manager, operations coordinator, or another equivalent leadership role. Library expertise is meriting but not required for the position. You will participate in various forums and have extensive contact with both internal and external parties, which requires that you have good communication skills in Swedish.
To succeed in this assignment, you are a confident and experienced leader with good communication skills. Through your previous leadership experience, you have developed self-awareness and are secure and stable in your leadership. You take responsibility for your decisions and have the courage to convey even uncomfortable messages when the situation requires it. We see that you are skilled at coordinating groups, motivating your employees, and creating both clarity and participation around organizational goals. You are committed to collaborations and handle conflicts and disagreements in a constructive manner. You make sound judgments and demonstrate good judgment in your statements, actions, and decisions.
