Power Systems Specialist – Light Rail South

DB FAST is seeking an experienced Power Systems Specialist for a qualified assignment in the development of a major light rail project in the Stockholm region. The assignment encompasses strategic power studies and the development of technical solutions that form the basis for the overall design of the light rail electrical system and continued project engineering. About the Assignment As a power systems specialist, you will work with advanced analyses, dimensioning, and technical coordination within rail-bound infrastructure. The role involves close collaboration with the project's technical disciplines and significant responsibility for developing decision-support materials and requirements specifications within the power systems field. Examples of Work Tasks Investigate power requirements and propose solutions for the light rail's power supply Dimension and place substations and rectifier stations Lead and coordinate analyses related to electromagnetic impact in the light rail's surrounding area Develop proposals for power grid expansion and grounding strategy Map existing electrical installations and adjacent utility systems Investigate redundancy requirements according to N-1 criteria Dimension high-voltage cables and distribution networks Prepare technical decision-support materials and requirements specifications Collaborate with design consultants, technical specialists, and operating functions Participate in project meetings, coordination meetings, and contact with authorities and other stakeholders Conduct power systems studies for the tram depot and associated facilities Qualifications We are looking for someone with: Multi-year experience in power systems within rail-bound transit, railways, or other critical infrastructure Strong knowledge of power supply, high-voltage systems, grounding, and distribution networks Experience with technical studies, dimensioning, and development of requirements specifications Ability to work independently and lead technical matters in complex projects Strong collaboration skills and experience working in multidisciplinary project organizations Excellent Swedish language skills, both spoken and written Assignment Period and Scope Start: September 2026 End: December 2027 Scope: Approximately 20 hours per week Location: Stockholm, with possibility for some remote work.
