Your responsibilities As a student assistant, you are responsible for contributing to the realization of the curriculum's goals and intentions in our activities. Together with colleagues, you plan, implement, and document the pedagogical work at school and at the after-school program. The role of student assistant involves being a support and resource for individual students. This means being present to support students with practical challenges that arise during a school day, being available during lessons to clarify the teacher's instructions, and being an additional adult who can support academic work. The role also involves being present during after-school hours to support students in their social interactions with classmates and to assist them in activities conducted at the after-school program in the afternoon. In your work at the after-school program, your mission, according to the curriculum, is to stimulate students' development and learning and to offer them a meaningful leisure time. The activities should be based on students' needs, interests, and experiences, while also continuously challenging them further by inspiring new discoveries. In education, students should be offered a variety of working methods, forms of expression, and learning environments that integrate care and learning. In this role, you will work closely with students with various types of special educational needs. Based on each student's condition, abilities, interests, and needs, you will provide support throughout the day. Your workplace Hjulsbroskolan is an F-6 school located in a nature-rich setting on the outskirts of Linköping. It is easily accessible by both bus and car. Approximately 275 students learn and develop at the school with the support of our engaged teachers. We provide students with the conditions for independent thinking, knowledge development, and confidence in the future. We do this by treating each student with respect for their person and work in a safe environment. During the day, we focus greatly on creating a good study environment and we actively work with positive behavioral support. About you It is a requirement that you have a qualification as a childcare worker/student assistant from adult education or have completed the Child and Leisure Program at upper secondary school. It is also a requirement that you have experience working with students/children in curriculum-based activities as an employee, through internship, or as a volunteer, and that you have knowledge of special educational needs. You have good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish. This is because, according to the curriculum (Lgr22), you should organize and conduct work so that students receive support in their language and communication development, and you are responsible for ensuring that each student can use Swedish in a rich and nuanced way. In your role as a student assistant, you are aware of the goals and quality standards for the activities. You have a good understanding of people's differences and approach them in a responsive and flexible way in teaching and school life. Being able to be flexible and take your own initiative are also important aspects of the daily work. In your role, you are expected to create good relationships and collaborate well with your contacts, including colleagues, guardians, and other external parties. You take initiative and lead work with students through motivation, engagement, and participation. You also contribute to students' learning by bringing enthusiasm, energy, and joy to the work.
