Your Assignment
In your role as a student assistant at Björknäs Adapted Primary and Secondary School, you work based on each student's needs, interests, development, and circumstances. You meet students with many different forms of functional variations and support students throughout the school day and recreational activities, before and after school. Most students study subject areas and you need to be able to communicate with the children using various AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) methods. Together with the work team that includes a teacher and several student assistants, you are responsible for implementing and developing students' training and instruction.
You support students throughout the entire school day, including recreational time, and provide support in both learning and care to ensure the day runs smoothly. During recreational time, you are motivating and help ensure students have both meaningful and fun activities. The work is physically demanding and includes personal care. Students have extensive care needs and require support in various situations throughout the day. As staff in an adapted school, you may also work in different departments over time, depending on the needs of the operation.
Your Experience
For this position, you must have:
– upper secondary education
– experience working with children and/or youth with intellectual disabilities and/or multiple disabilities
– experience working with children and/or youth with autism
– good knowledge and experience with NPF (Normalizing Process Framework)
– good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written.
It is advantageous if you also have:
– experience working at an adapted primary and/or secondary school
– upper secondary or post-secondary education in health and care
– education or completed courses in intellectual disabilities
– knowledge of sign language communication and/or other alternative communication methods, such as picture-based communication.

You are flexible, solutions-oriented, and responsive to students' individual circumstances. Furthermore, you are self-directed but understand the importance of collegial collaboration and enjoy working in a team. You must be calm and pedagogical with great patience and the ability to create security for each student. You have a positive approach to your work and the ability to help motivate students in various contexts. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
