Do you want to help create a safe and stimulating school environment where every student has the opportunity to develop according to their own abilities? With us, you make an important difference in students' daily lives and contribute to a meaningful school experience. Welcome! Your responsibilities In adapted elementary school, students with intellectual disabilities study, often in combination with additional disabilities (for example, cerebral palsy, physical mobility impairments). Our students study subjects and/or subject areas, and the education is adapted to each student's abilities. As a teaching assistant in adapted elementary school, you will support students with practical challenges during the school day and provide support during lessons. Together with the classroom team and work group, you plan, implement, and document pedagogical work in the adapted elementary school. You work closely with teachers and other teaching assistants. As a teaching assistant, you are expected to create conditions for students to develop their abilities according to their own circumstances, both in learning and social contexts. This means that during lessons, you clarify the teacher's instructions using AAC (alternative and augmentative communication). You provide support with practical challenges during the school day. Care assistance such as help with bathroom visits, diaper changes, and repositioning are included. You also participate during breaks and create opportunities for all students to participate in group activities. The role requires that you can assist with lifting and are able to walk and stand for extended periods. Your workplace We are looking for teaching assistants for Blästadsskolan and Kvinnebyskolan's adapted elementary schools. We are located in Ekholmen and Kvinneby respectively, two schools where every student has the opportunity to develop according to their own abilities. Kvinnebyskolan is a preschool–grade 6 school with both an adapted elementary school and a regular elementary school. The inspiring school environment with large natural areas in close proximity creates excellent opportunities for varied and enjoyable learning both in the classroom and at the after-school care facility. The adapted elementary school has approximately 30 students and currently consists of four student groups from preschool to grade 6. Many students also have a place at the after-school care facility after school. Blästadsskolan is also a preschool–grade 6 school with both an adapted elementary school and a regular elementary school. The school has nature right around the corner, a perfect environment for students to grow and develop in close contact with their surroundings. Within the adapted elementary school, there are approximately 60 students in eight student groups from grades 1–6, including a flexible group. Here too, several students have a place at the after-school care facility. Work as a teaching assistant requires attentiveness, commitment, and a desire to understand each individual, even when the student cannot always express themselves with words. As a teaching assistant, you need to be observant, curious, and have a strong interest in meeting and supporting each student according to their unique needs. In the operation, you work in a team together with teachers and other teaching assistants. During the school day, instruction is teacher-led. The teacher leads the activity during school hours, while the teaching assistants together are responsible for the after-school care facility in accordance with the curriculum for after-school care. About you It is a requirement that you have completed upper secondary education or adult education. It is an advantage if you have education relevant to the position, such as nursing assistant, teaching assistant, childcare worker, or child and youth care. We would like to see that you have experience working as a teaching assistant in adapted elementary school (formerly special education school) or other curriculum-based activity. Alternatively, you have other experience that the employer considers equivalent. It is an advantage if you have experience working in adapted elementary schools or with LSS services, and if you have knowledge of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC). You have good communicative ability in speech and writing in Swedish. This is because, according to the curriculum (Lgra22) and (Lgr22), you must organize and conduct work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development, and you are responsible for ensuring that each student can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way. You must be flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances and students' different needs, and you must be able to handle stressful situations in a calm and stable manner. The work takes place in close collaboration with team colleagues, which means you need to enjoy teamwork and be good at it, as well as be attentive, communicative, and flexible in your interactions with colleagues. In your role as a teaching assistant, you are aware of the goals and quality standards for the operation. You have a good understanding of human differences and relate to them in an attentive and flexible way in teaching. You build good relationships and collaborate well with the contacts that arise in your professional role. You guide work with the children through motivation, engagement, and participation. You also contribute to student learning by bringing enthusiasm, energy, and enjoyment to the work. In this recruitment process, we use tests in the selection.
