Activity Description Gällivare Municipality has a total of 9 primary schools, both in the central town and in villages throughout the countryside. Within Gällivare Municipality's primary schools, in addition to qualified teachers, there are also senior teachers, special educators, special needs teachers, counselors, school nurses, class mentors, student assistants/support staff. In grades 1–6, class mentors are present at our schools, and in the central town there are school supervisors in grades 7–9. Our two new special education groups will be located at Tallbacka School and Hed School, our two largest grades 1–6 schools. Staff will be part of the central student health services division. We are seeking a total of two student assistants for our special education groups. The purpose of the special education group is to provide students with extensive needs for special support the opportunity to develop academically and socially in a more structured and adapted learning environment. The group will create better conditions for study focus, clear structure, and individual support. The special education group intervention is temporary support. Job Responsibilities As a student assistant in the special education group, you will help create opportunities where all students are offered the chance to reach their goals and where learning feels meaningful, stimulating, and enjoyable. You will work together with the special needs teacher and support the students in the group on an individual and group level. You will participate in contact with guardians and coordinate interventions needed for our students to have optimal conditions for development. As a student assistant, you will be present with the students in the group, support them during teaching activities, transitions, and in social interaction with other students. The group consists of students from grades 3–6 and will have a maximum of 5 students. Qualifications We are seeking someone with experience working with young people, preferably as a student assistant or support person in a school. You must be conscientious, able to make decisions, and be clear and driven in your work with our young people. A quality we place great emphasis on is leadership skills and the ability to build good relationships with students. Your collaboration skills and commitment are important so that the group feels secure and dares to develop. Previous work experience in schools and training related to NPF diagnoses and challenging youth are advantageous. A driver's license and a certificate from the police criminal record register are required to obtain this position. Great weight is placed on personal suitability. Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is advantageous when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality. Work Time/Duration The position is temporary until 2027-06-30 with possibility of extension. You will receive a permanent position in Gällivare Municipality.
