Östervångsskolan in Lund offers bilingual instruction in a sign language environment for students from preschool through grade 10. Our students receive instruction in both Swedish Sign Language and written Swedish. We offer housing for students who cannot commute to school daily.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a student assistant, you work in one or multiple classrooms as well as in the after-school program activities. This assignment primarily involves working in a classroom at the lower and middle elementary levels as well as in the after-school program.
As a student assistant in our operations, you work for the benefit of the entire student group, with special focus on students who need support due to various needs—physical, linguistic, and psychosocial.
The student assistant's area of responsibility is to support student development in close collaboration and dialogue with teachers and the student support team.
As a student assistant, you should be a support so that all students have equal conditions to develop and keep up with instruction.
You support all students' participation in peer relationships and the school's entire operations with both independence and inclusion as goals.
You have an active role in school work.
You create a safe learning environment based on mutual respect and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
• Appropriate education for working with children and youth
• Upper secondary education with a focus on the children and recreation program or equivalent
• Experience with preventive and remedial work for students in need of special support and/or experience with social work with children and youth. This includes work with conflict management and supportive measures to prevent conflicts and challenges in the social environment.
• Swedish Sign Language and Swedish in writing
• Good general IT skills and knowledge of Office/Outlook as well as systems designed to support work with students.

• Knowledge of Deaf culture
• Knowledge of various disabilities
