The Early Childhood and Primary Education Department is one of Varberg Municipality's largest departments with nearly 2,200 employees. Within our areas of operation—preschool, primary school, and child and student well-being—we are here for children and students, together shaping the future. Håstens Specialized Primary School is located northeast of central Varberg and is integrated with Håstens School grades 6–9. The school accommodates 100 students in grades 1–9 and is designed to facilitate interaction and inspiration between the different school forms. At the same time, there are opportunities for smaller settings for students who need them. 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As a teaching assistant at Håstens Specialized Primary School, you work to provide students with support in their daily lives to create good conditions for learning and well-being. All pedagogical work is based on an individual perspective but often in groups, as communication is the core of learning. Main responsibilities: • Provide individually adapted support during teaching and other parts of the school day based on the student's abilities. • Use clarifying pedagogy and communication support such as AAC or sign language as support in daily work. • Contribute to the work team's shared work of creating structure and security for the student. • Collaborate with teachers and guardians regarding the student's schooling and well-being. • Participate in planning activities and contribute to a positive environment both individually and in groups. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with a genuine commitment to children and young people in specialized primary education and who thrives in a role based on both pedagogical insight and personal maturity. You are a reassuring person with great patience who, through clarifying pedagogy and communication tools, creates structure and predictability in students' daily lives. You meet each student with attentiveness and a professional approach, regardless of challenges. You have good collaboration skills and see it as self-evident to cooperate with colleagues in the school team and have positive dialogue with guardians to together create the best possible school day for the student. We are looking for someone who: • Has a diploma from the Children and Recreation Program, or education as a recreation leader, teaching assistant, or other education that the employer deems relevant for the position. It is a merit if you have: • Experience working with students with intellectual disabilities and autism. Salary form: Monthly salary. Employment type: Fixed-term employment. Duration: 3–6 months, start date: 2026-08-31. Start date by agreement, ends: 2026-12-30.
