Student Assistant for Adapted Primary and Secondary School, Hourly Substitute Position
We are now recruiting hourly substitutes for our adapted primary and secondary school! We are looking for someone who can create situations where students succeed. You have experience working with students in need of special support, and your leadership is grounded in the belief that all students can and want to develop. About Us At our adapted primary school in Solna, there are currently eight classes studying both subjects and subject areas—what was previously called practical school. Seven classroom teachers and five practical aesthetic teachers work at the school, and in each class, one to three student assistants work who follow the students throughout their entire school day, which may include both school and after-school activities. At the adapted secondary school, there are currently three classes studying individual programs. Three mentors and six practical aesthetic teachers work at the school, and in each class, two to three student assistants work who follow the students throughout their entire school day. About the Position We are seeking hourly substitute student assistants for students with intellectual disabilities. The position means that you will be a substitute and called in as needed. As an hourly substitute, you replace regular staff during shorter absences. In the role of hourly substitute, you carry out instruction in the classroom based on the regular teacher's planning. As a student assistant with us, you are part of the student's entire school day, which also means participating in lunch and break activities as well as work in our primary school's after-school program in the afternoons. You will be both a practical and pedagogical support. You facilitate learning in consultation with teachers, create a safe environment, follow up, and collaborate with other functions at the school. As a student assistant, you are an important part of supporting the student's education! Who are we looking for? We are looking for someone who has completed upper secondary education experience working with children or young people in need of special support documented experience working in a school environment, preferably with adolescents or young adults with special needs such as autism, ADHD, and intellectual disabilities. It is a merit if you have worked as a student assistant at an adapted secondary school post-secondary education in an area relevant to the position knowledge of alternative communication. We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in students in need of special support. You should have strong commitment and a willingness to develop together with colleagues and students. High flexibility and attentiveness are prerequisites for, as an hourly substitute, quickly adapting to new environments and thus being able to contribute to a well-functioning operation. You work in a structured manner and your leadership is grounded in the belief that all students can and want to develop. As a person, you are attentive to students' needs, clear, respectful, and have a great ability to build relationships with both our students, guardians, and colleagues. You have a low-affective approach to the students. We would like to see that you have high availability and the possibility of working regularly during the school year, preferably several days a week and sometimes with short notice.
