About the Operation Bergslena Upper Secondary School is an adapted upper secondary school offering four-year programs for students with intellectual disabilities. We provide six national programs and an individual program where students study six subject areas. The goal is for students to become employable within their chosen vocational training or progress as far as possible in their knowledge development. The operation is characterized by a safe learning environment and a professional approach to our target group. Before and after school hours, we also offer short-term supervision for students at Bergslena Upper Secondary School's units. Bergslena Upper Secondary School is located at Bergslenagatan, Sörmarksgatan, and in Viared. Job Responsibilities Your tasks involve supporting students during instruction time and during Short-Term Supervision (KTS) before and after school hours. Teamwork is an important part of our work. As a student assistant, you work together with teachers and other student assistants. Here, through clear structure, calm interaction, alternative and augmentative communication, you'll support students with significant support needs. You'll work with students displaying challenging behaviors (externalizing and self-injurious behaviors) related to intellectual disabilities (ID) and neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD). Your work is varied and practical. You support students throughout the day, which may include assistance with personal care such as toilet visits and changing clothes; heavy lifting may also occur. To meet students' needs, it's important that you work together with special education teachers and teachers using explicit pedagogy and meet students according to their abilities and needs. Work as a student assistant is active and includes daily walks, cycling, and all forms of movement and activities together with students. Together, we work so that each student achieves the best possible learning outcomes according to the student's abilities and needs. Qualifications You hold an upper secondary education focused on children and leisure activities. You have experience working with students in adapted upper secondary education. To succeed as a student assistant in adapted upper secondary education, you need good collaboration skills and strong commitment to the students you meet. You act in accordance with made decisions, the curriculum, goals, policies, and guidelines. You need to be an active person who can manage daily walks, cycling, and all forms of movement and activities with students. You: Are calm, composed, attentive, and have the ability to interact with students in a calm manner. Are flexible in your thinking and actions. Have good social competence, take initiative, can work independently and with others. You are positive about challenges and work creatively. Have understanding and knowledge of digitalization's importance for our target group. Have the ability to collaborate with teachers, student assistants, and other functions at the school.
