Student Assistant at Västerängsskolan
Västerängsskolan is a grades F–9 school in Håbo Municipality with approximately 400 students. We work to create a safe, inclusive, and developmentally supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed based on their individual needs. We are now seeking a reliable, responsible, and engaged student assistant for a 4th-grade student.
This is a fixed-term position starting with the school year on 8/17 and continuing through the end of the fall term, with the possibility of extension.
Responsibilities
As a student assistant, you work closely with a student throughout the entire school day and contribute to structure, safety, and favorable conditions for learning, development, and inclusion.
The role includes both educational support during instruction, transitions, and social situations, as well as support related to the student's self-care management for type 1 diabetes. This includes:
monitoring and responding to signs of high or low blood sugar
assisting with blood glucose measurement and reading
aiding in carbohydrate counting and meal situations
supporting insulin administration according to prescription and the established self-care plan
contributing to safe and effective routines throughout the school day
You collaborate closely with the teaching staff, student health team, and other school personnel. You also play an important role in contact with guardians and follow the self-care plan established for the student.
Although your primary role is focused on supporting one specific student, you are expected to assist the broader activities and team as needed.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is calm, confident, and stable even in situations requiring quick judgments and responsible action. You have strong ability to build trusting relationships with children and work systematically according to clear routines.
You are responsible, careful, and able to follow instructions while also acting independently when the situation calls for it. You are observant and can recognize signs of how the student is doing and take appropriate action based on established routines.
We value flexibility, solution-oriented thinking, and strong collaboration skills. You communicate clearly and professionally with students, guardians, and colleagues to create a safe and cohesive school day.
We are looking for someone with:
experience working with children and young people
strong ability to create structure and safety for students
good collaboration skills and a professional approach
good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
Meritorious qualifications include:
experience working as a student assistant or resource person in a school
experience with students with special needs
knowledge of or experience with self-care interventions and diabetes
Great weight will be placed on personal suitability. The position may be filled before the final application deadline.

Pursuant to the School Act, a certificate from the Swedish Police Register must be presented before employment can be offered.
