Ref: 20261897 Job Duties We are seeking a dedicated, confident, and responsible student assistant with experience and strong knowledge of diabetes management. In this role, you will be an important person in the student's daily life and contribute to creating a safe, predictable, and inclusive school day where the student is given good conditions to develop, learn, and participate in school activities. As a student assistant, you work closely with the student during the school day and provide the support needed based on the student's individual circumstances and needs. You work based on the school's pedagogical documentation, the student's medical self-care plan, and applicable diabetes management procedures. Job Duties In your role as a student assistant, you will, among other things: provide individual support and be a trusted adult for the student during the school day contribute to enabling the student to participate in teaching, breaks, meals, physical education, and other activities in a safe and secure manner support the student based on their need for structure, predictability, and accommodations follow and work according to the student's self-care plan and the school's diabetes management procedures be attentive to the student's well-being and act according to established procedures when needed collaborate closely with teachers, student health services, and other school staff maintain professional and continuous dialogue with guardians when the assignment requires it contribute to an inclusive learning environment where the student has the opportunity to be as independent as possible. Based on the needs of the operation and the nature of the assignment, the position may also include work within the after-school program. You may therefore support and follow the student during after-school time and contribute to a safe and meaningful experience outside the regular school day. The assignment may also involve support in other situations and for other students based on the operation's needs. You therefore need to be flexible and have the ability to adapt when tasks and conditions change. Qualifications We are looking for you to: have a completed upper secondary education, preferably from a child and youth program have at least two years of work experience, including experience working with children and young people have previous experience working in primary school with a student with diabetes (an advantage) have good knowledge of diabetes management and feel confident following a student's medical self-care plan (an advantage) have experience creating safety, structure, and good relationships when working with children and young people have a good understanding of the school's mission and the governing documents that regulate school operations. It is an advantage if you also have experience working with students with neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD) and knowledge of how different functional variations can affect the student's learning and daily life. Knowledge and experience in low-affect approaches is an advantage.
