Announcement of a competition for candidates for the position of Chief Specialist - Expert in the Department of Public Health Promotion and Disease Prevention of the Health Directorate (profession code: 2422 10) for a fixed-term position. The Welfare Department of Riga City Municipality is the leading institution of Riga City Municipality within the competencies assigned to it regarding social services, social assistance, accessibility of health care, health promotion and disease prevention, including limiting the spread of addictions and promoting employment of residents. The position aims to ensure public health promotion and disease prevention in Riga by participating in planning, organization, and oversight processes related to health improvement and reduction of disease risk. We will entrust you with: participation in the development and implementation of the Health Directorate's health promotion and disease prevention work plan; organizing and conducting research on health habits, analyzing them, and participating in the preparation and dissemination of information to the public; collaboration with state and non-governmental institutions to plan, manage, and oversee public health promotion and disease prevention programs; preparing and providing necessary technical support, as well as coordinating projects in the field of public health; monitoring developments in health policy and participating in the development of state and municipal policy by providing expertise. We expect: higher education in health care with a public health specialist qualification, in pedagogy or psychology (preference will be given to candidates with higher education in health care with a public health specialist qualification), preferably a Master's degree; practical work experience in the field of public health (preferably at least 2 years); knowledge of healthy lifestyle and disease prevention in Latvia and globally; knowledge of the state language at the highest level; excellent skills in working with computers (Software: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook) and office equipment; ability to prepare written reports and documentation; high communication culture and skills in interacting with people; ability to make independent decisions and skills to organize your work.
