DUTIES As Director of Finance, you hold overall responsibility for Region Västerbotten's financial management, budget and follow-up processes. You lead the Finance Department, which is a centralized function, with approximately 110 employees and five unit managers within the areas of financial management, accounting, procurement, contracting, and controller support. Your management team also includes an administrative controller who reports directly to you. The Finance Department is a valued support function with high competence and strong commitment to contributing to the best possible benefit for the people of Västerbotten. Region Västerbotten faces a period of change where growing needs must be met within limited economic resources. As Director of Finance, you play a key role in developing the region's financial management and ensuring that it contributes to strategic priorities, efficient resource use, and long-term sustainability. An important task will be to further develop working methods and processes within the Finance Department to provide more proactive and strategic support to operations. You lead the development of the Finance Department while also, together with other managers and employees, playing an important role in driving the changes needed to create a long-term sustainable economy throughout the organization. You report directly to the Regional Director and are part of the region's highest management team. You work closely with the political leadership and participate in national networks with other Directors of Finance. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with relevant academic education in finance or other education and experience deemed equivalent. You have several years of experience in strategic leadership with responsibility for financial management, budgeting processes, financial planning, and follow-up. You are accustomed to analyzing complex financial matters, converting analyses into well-founded decision support, and contributing to strategic priorities that create long-term value for operations. You have documented experience leading development and change initiatives. Experience from politically governed operations is meritious. The role requires excellent ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing. You are a confident and strategic leader motivated by developing and achieving results with a focus on operational needs. Through communicative and inclusive leadership, you create engagement, participation, and good relationships. You combine strategic vision with analytical sharpness and a clear focus on implementation. You make well-founded decisions, build confidence in complex matters, and translate strategy into concrete development and results. You can make financial matters understandable and relevant for different target groups and see financial management as a tool for creating quality, development, and sustainable resource use.
