We are now looking for a Finance Director who is a highly skilled economist, but who is also curious about the operations behind the numbers; the people, the assignments, and the contexts that the economics should support. For us, finance and operations are not two separate matters. Our mission is to create the best possible social services for those we exist for, and long-term sustainable finances are a prerequisite for success. As Finance Director, you therefore need to be equally interested in the operations' mission, results, and development as in the numbers behind them. You see financial management as a tool for making wise prioritizations, using our resources where they do the most good, and creating scope for social work. Job Responsibilities As Finance Director, you lead and develop the social services department's financial work and finance unit, which consists of 3 economists, 2 controllers, 2 finance assistants, 1 finance coordinator, 1 procurement coordinator, and an administrator. You are a strategic part of the management team and contribute with analyses, perspectives, and decision-making materials for long-term and sustainable management. You have overall responsibility for budget, forecasting, follow-up, analysis, accounting, and financial management. You drive the development of our work methods and help us use finance and data as support for decisions, prioritizations, and operational development. To succeed, you need to see finance as part of the bigger picture. Financial decisions affect quality, staffing, work environment, competence supply, and ultimately the people we exist for. You help us understand these connections and see the consequences of different choices. With us, you need to be able to ask the question: What does it cost? But equally important is that you ask: What happens to the operations if we do – or don't do – this? An important part of your mission is also to create understanding and engagement for finance in the organization. You can make complex financial relationships understandable and usable – for politicians, managers, and employees. What We Offer Social services is a complex societal mission in constant change. Qualifications You are confident in financial management and have very good competence in budget, forecasting, analysis, and follow-up. You are analytical and a strategic team player and do not settle for noting what has happened but want to understand why, what lies ahead, and what we need to do. You have experience from a politically governed organization and understand the interplay between politics and administration. You can prepare well-founded decision-making materials and are confident in your professional assessments, even when they mean you need to challenge or question. As a leader, you are clear, trustworthy, and coaching. You take advantage of your employees' competence and create conditions for development. You are confident in change and can combine structure with flexibility and good judgment. We are looking for you who have - A degree in business economics - Several years of qualified experience in financial work and financial management - Very good competence in budget, forecasting, analysis, follow-up, accounting, and internal control - Experience working in a politically governed organization - Experience in strategic work and change and development work - Very good pedagogical and communication skills Experience from social services is a merit but not a requirement.
