The Finance function is part of the Municipal Administration Office and consists of the Chief Economist, three controllers, and two economists. Make a difference with us! 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES We are now seeking an engaged, strategic, and development-oriented Chief Economist who wants to lead and develop the municipality's finance function. As Chief Economist, you hold a central role in the organization and actively contribute to creating sound financial management and long-term conditions for the municipality's operations. In this role, you are responsible for the municipality's overall financial management and lead work on budgeting, follow-up, financial statements, annual reports, and financial analyses. You are an important support to municipal management, operational managers, and political representatives, and you are responsible for preparing decision-making documents that contribute to well-founded strategic decisions. You have personnel, operational, and budget responsibility for the finance department and work in an inclusive manner to develop both employees and work methods and processes. QUALIFICATIONS We are seeking someone with an academic degree in economics, accounting, or other education that the employer deems equivalent. You have several years of experience in qualified financial work in a leadership position and a good understanding of public administration and municipal finance. You have experience with budgeting processes, financial management, financial statements, and annual reports, as well as leading operations, employees, and finances. If you have experience working closely with political leadership and in a politically governed organization, we see that as a merit. We would appreciate it if you have a high level of digital maturity and an interest in how digitalization and technological development can contribute to more efficient work methods and better decision support. Furthermore, it is meritious if you have experience in development accounting and property economics, as these areas play an important role in the municipality's long-term development and investments. As a person, you are a confident and clear leader who creates trust and engagement. You have the ability to see the whole picture and translate financial analyses into strategic and operationally relevant decisions. You communicate in a pedagogical and inspiring manner and can explain complex financial relationships to politicians, managers, and employees alike. At the same time, you are analytical, structured, and thorough and have an ease in identifying risks, opportunities, and development areas. You build good relationships and collaborate trustfully with both employees and managers as well as with labor organizations and political representatives.
