About the workplace
The Department of Laboratory Medicine (ILM) is one of seven departments at the Faculty of Medicine. We conduct leading research in the field of laboratory medicine with a focus on understanding disease development and improving diagnosis and treatment for patients. Some of our strongest research areas, with world-class operations, are cancer, genetics, and blood research.
The Department has approximately 300 employees and an annual turnover of around 500 million kronor, the majority of which comes from external research grants.
ILM's office consists of 14 staff members: an administrative coordinator, two HR partners, an HR administrator, seven economists, and two finance administrators, all under the leadership of an administrative director. The office's primary task is to support core operations and enable high-quality research and education. The office is responsible for ensuring that the university meets both external requirements and laws as well as internal rules and guidelines. Work is conducted with a focus on using resources efficiently based on operational needs and available funds.

Tasks and areas of responsibility
As an economist with us, you will become part of our engaged and competent finance team. The role has a special focus on qualified project accounting related to larger and more complex research projects, such as EU-funded projects (e.g., Horizon Europe and NordForsk) with multiple partners.
Your main tasks include:
Project accounting, with special focus on larger and complex projects (e.g., EU)
Budget work and financial planning
Year-end closing work
Financial advisory
Project and operations follow-up and analysis
Invoice management
In addition to the above tasks, other administrative duties within the finance area may also occur.
Qualifications
To be a candidate for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Economics or another academic education with equivalent content deemed comparable
Good practical experience in financial management and accounting
Experience with qualified project accounting, preferably from larger and more complex projects, such as EU-funded projects (e.g., Horizon Europe, NordForsk) and projects with multiple partners
Good administrative ability and structured work approach
Good collaboration skills
Ability to work goal-oriented and deliver results within given timeframes
Very good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in both Swedish and English, as the department operates in an international environment
Good digital competence and experience working in accounting systems, as well as the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new digital tools, including using AI-based tools to support your work
Ability to take responsibility for your tasks and independently drive matters from start to finish with high quality
A structured work approach with good ability to prioritize between tasks
Ability to handle periods of high workload
A solution-oriented approach and ability to identify opportunities even in challenging situations
Good ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new tasks and situations and an engagement in your commitments
Ability to build good relationships and contribute to well-functioning collaboration in the workplace
Good collaboration skills with the ability to see others' perspectives and value both results and relationships
Accuracy and conscientiousness, combined with a pragmatic attitude when the situation requires it

Meritorious for employment are:
Experience of work in the higher education sector
Experience with accounting systems, for example Raindance, as well as working in EU portals or similar systems
A proactive and positive approach to work
Other information
The employment is a permanent position at 100%, with start as soon as possible or by agreement. A 6-month probation period may be applied.
