Description of the WorkplaceThe Medical Institution Office in Malmö is a shared administrative office for two of the Faculty of Medicine's institutions located in Malmö: the Department of Clinical Sciences Malmö and the Department of Translational Medicine. Here you will find patient-centered research environments for the research groups active at the institutions. These have a combined total of approximately 400 employees, including associated staff employed by Region Skåne. The institutions conduct research and education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The office's primary task is to support core activities and enable research and education of high quality. The office is responsible for ensuring that the university meets both external requirements and laws as well as internal policies and guidelines. The work is conducted with a focus on using resources efficiently based on the needs of the operations and available funds. The office is located at the Clinical Research Center (CRC) in Malmö and currently consists of 11 people working in finance, HR, administration, and communication, led by an administrative director. Read more on the university's website about working at Lund University Work With Us Tasks and ResponsibilitiesWe are now seeking a service-oriented, driven, and independent economist who will provide qualified support to the institution's managers and employees in finance and procurement. As an economist at the Medical Institution Office, you will have a central and varied role where you are responsible for the finances of several research groups, which means varied work tasks with many contacts in the operations of the different research groups. You will become part of our engaged and competent finance team. Within the finance function, there are four employees working as a team where you support and help each other, and share knowledge with one another. Your main tasks include: Analyses of operations, budgeting, forecasting, monitoring and financial statement work Provide qualified support on financial matters Project accounting Handle and provide support on matters concerning procurement and purchasing in accordance with applicable regulations, and develop the process in this area In addition to the above tasks, other administrative work in the finance area may also occur. You will work closely with other economists at the office and in close collaboration with other functions at the office such as HR, administration, and communication. By supporting, informing, and cooperating with research group heads, research group leaders, and researchers on financial matters, you will develop a broad network within the institution and gain a good understanding of the operations. Qualifications For the position, the following are required: A bachelor's degree in economics or other academic education with equivalent content deemed equivalent. At least two years of work experience in qualified finance and accounting work. Good system knowledge and experience of working in different systems. Good knowledge of Excel. Good ability to express yourself in English and Swedish in both speech and writing. An analytical and problem-solving approach. Great weight will be placed on personal qualities. The work as an economist at the Medical Institution Office requires that you have the ability to be thorough, service-oriented, and take responsibility for planning and executing your work tasks. It also requires that you are structured and efficient in your way of working and possess the ability to switch between details and a holistic perspective. You must be able to work independently, but at the same time function well in a group where everyone contributes, which requires you to have good collaboration skills and enjoy working together with others. The work also requires you to have good communicative and pedagogical skills to explain finance to non-economists in an understandable way. Meritorious for the position: Experience of qualified finance work at Lund University or another university/college. Good knowledge of and experience with financial systems such as Primula, Hypergene, and Raindance. Experience in project accounting. Experience with EU-funded research projects. OtherThe employment is a permanent position at 100%, with start as soon as possible or by agreement. A probationary period of six months may be applied.
