The Department of Computer and Information Science is seeking an economist driven by analysis, innovation, and digital development. With us, you'll have the opportunity to develop working methods and contribute to streamlining operational processes.
About the position
As an economist, you'll be part of the department's finance function. The finance function is a service-oriented support and advisory function that together provides professional financial support to the department's management and managers.
You'll play an important role in budget and financial statement work within the department. The work as an economist also involves ensuring that financial regulations are complied with and preparing financial reports.
As an economist, you'll drive ongoing financial work at the departmental level and ensure that core operations receive appropriate, professional, and operationally relevant support in financial matters. The role involves proactive work with analysis, monitoring, and advisory services that provide important input for operational management and decision-making. The work includes presenting complex financial relationships in a pedagogical way to operational representatives.
You'll work with the financial management of research projects in one or more departments within the institution. This work includes, among other things, budgeting and forecasting, cost monitoring, reconciliations with project managers, and financial reporting to funders, both national and EU projects.
You'll participate in developing and quality-assuring the department's financial processes, procedures, and system support.
The role also includes representing the department to other departments, university administration, and funders.
About you
The work requires a service-oriented approach where you independently drive, support, and advise relevant managers and researchers. Therefore, you need to be responsible, service-oriented, and good at collaborating. You should have integrity and be stable as a person with pronounced social competence. You need to demonstrate strong analytical abilities.
We're looking for someone with a university degree in economics. Requirements for employment include experience with both budgeting and financial statement work as well as other qualified accounting and monitoring work.
The work requires a strong ability to retrieve relevant information from IT systems and then structure, compile, analyze, and present it in a systematic and pedagogical manner. The work requires that you have a strong drive to continuously develop, automate, and streamline work processes. You see opportunities for improvement, take initiative in new ways of working, and use digital tools to create more efficient and high-quality processes. The work also requires high user competence in MS Excel.
Very good ability to express yourself well both orally and in writing in Swedish and English is a requirement for employment.
Meritorious is experience with data analysis and visualization in Power BI or similar programs.
