About the Position
As an Economist, you will be responsible for the department's overall financial management and serve as a decision support to the Department Head. WFE has approximately 75% external financing with many contracts and financiers to manage according to the regulations applicable to the university as a state agency as well as for each respective financier. In your work, you will collaborate closely with the Department Head and other administrators, and contribute to efficient financial administration.
Main Responsibilities:
Monitoring the department's finances
Support in operational planning
Assisting the Department Head with documentation and analyses
Planning, coordinating, and compiling budget work at the department level
Responsibility for the department's quarterly and annual financial statements
Conducting ongoing reconciliations and forecasts
Supporting researchers with project economics, project budgeting, and reporting
Serving as a first point of contact for procurement and contract matters
Your Background
Qualifications:
Academic degree with a focus on economics. You should have knowledge of administrative systems and Excel as a working tool. As a state agency, high requirements are placed on knowledge of Swedish, but the department is also an international workplace, which requires good knowledge of English.
Meritorious are previous experience with project economics, project monitoring for various financiers (e.g., EU), experience with financial work in the public sector and especially the higher education sector, as well as knowledge of public procurement (LOU) and experience reading and interpreting contracts. Additional merits include experience with the administrative systems Agresso (UBW), Proceedo, and Primula.
In this role, you will have contact with many people, so your personal qualities such as ability to collaborate, provide good service, and work in a structured manner are especially important. You adapt easily to new circumstances, are analytical and thorough. We appreciate initiative and responsibility.
