The Department of Finance and Procurement is part of Uppsala University's central administration and is responsible for ensuring that the university's consolidated financial reporting and monitoring is accurate. One of the main tasks is to provide the university's institutions and departments with advice and support in the financial administration area and create conditions for high-quality financial information to facilitate decision-making within and outside the university.
We are now seeking an accountant for the accounting unit. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues within the unit and department as well as throughout the organization to help develop and quality assure the university's accounting. The work gives you a broad network and good opportunities for development.
Duties
Your responsibilities include, among other things:
Ongoing accounting and year-end closing work
Monitoring and internal controls to ensure accurate and fair accounting
Support and advice to operations-focused accountants
Development and improvement of processes and procedures
Planning, development and implementation of internal training initiatives
Environmental monitoring and updates on government regulations
Qualification Requirements
University degree with a focus on economics or equivalent education that the employer deems equivalent.
At least three years of experience in qualified accounting work
Good knowledge of Excel and experience working with various IT and financial systems
Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
Desirable/Advantageous Qualifications
Experience working in the higher education sector, public sector or other large organizations
Knowledge of government regulations
Experience in development and improvement work, such as process development or digitalization.
Experience and interest in creating instructions, guidelines and other documentation
