We are looking for someone who has a burning passion for animals in marine and freshwater environments. You are meticulous and can handle many tasks at once. The Position
You will be part of the Living Learning Environments department and the team working with our aquatic areas, which among other things are responsible for the animals in the aquariums, both in the exhibitions and behind the scenes. The Living Learning Environments department consists of animal keepers, zoologists, veterinary technicians, marine biologists and divers. The position will collaborate with the entire department, but most closely with people working on the aquatic areas.
As an active diver, you are responsible, in cooperation with other departments, for ensuring that Universeum's visitors have a positive experience and are inspired by our aquarium environments.
Your main responsibilities will be:
To conduct diving in accordance with safety standards and perform tasks according to requirements.
Responsible for daily operations and supervision according to Universeum's routines and policies for animal care and water treatment within the aquarium areas.
Responsible for developing and updating routines and policies in consultation with the department head, zoologist and veterinarian. The goal is to ensure that animal care is continuously improved in quality and meets laws, ethical standards and best practice.
Supervis interns and participate in public presentations and educational sessions and visitor sessions, where such need exists.
Guiding small and large groups
Water treatment and daily maintenance of our water systems including sampling
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following education and experience:
You have a professional diver certificate at least S30/A40 and experience with recreational diving.
It is an advantage if you have experience maintaining saltwater aquariums.
It is an advantage if you have experience working with animals.
You are trained as a dive instructor or have the ambition and ability, as the long-term expectation for the role is that qualification.
Driver's license category B.
You have high stress tolerance and the ability to handle multiple tasks in parallel in an intense and sometimes physically demanding environment, which requires both flexibility and adaptability.
We would also like to see that you have experience and knowledge in:
Plumbing and pumps
Water chemistry
Fish health and nutrition

Terms of Employment
Form of employment: Permanent employment. Universeum applies probationary employment.
The position is a full-time position where weekend work occurs.
Start date: By agreement.
