Your responsibilities
As a childcare worker, you will work in preschool class during school hours and in after-school care for grades F–1 in the afternoons.
You work closely with the responsible teacher and support students' learning, development, and well-being. The role includes being able to lead smaller groups or half classes based on the teacher's planning, participate in activities, and be an active adult during breaks, meals, and transitions.
In after-school care, you are responsible for a recurring activity and collaborate with colleagues across our after-school centers.
You are a calm, clear, and reassuring adult who builds good relationships with students. You collaborate well with colleagues and have a professional approach to interactions with guardians.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with childcare worker training who enjoys working closely with students in preschool class and younger school years.
For this position, we place special emphasis on your relational skills, collaboration abilities, and calmness in interactions with students, colleagues, and parents. You need to be able to create safe and trusting relationships with students while being clear, stable, and professional in your approach.
You have a positive view of children characterized by respect and a belief that all students can and want to develop. You can meet students with different needs in a calm and low-affect manner and maintain your composure even when situations become demanding or unpredictable.
Collaboration is a central part of the role. You need to be able to work closely with the responsible teacher, colleagues in preschool class, and staff at after-school centers. You actively contribute to a positive work environment, communicate clearly and respectfully, and can both give and receive feedback. You understand the importance of following shared agreements and contributing to the organization functioning as a whole.
In selection and interviews, we will place special emphasis on:
experience working with students with neurodevelopmental conditions
knowledge and experience of low-affect approaches
experience working in preschool class and/or after-school care
experience leading smaller student groups or half classes
experience planning and conducting activities in after-school care
being self-directed and proactive
Meritorious:
diabetes competency and experience with self-care support in schools
