EcoDataCenter is building one of Sweden's new mega data centers in Borlänge and establishing the organization to operate it. We are now hiring operations monitors who want to be part of the startup phase and ensure stable, secure, and well-structured operations of mission-critical infrastructure. This is a role for someone who thrives when technology, analysis, and decision-making come together. You don't just monitor systems when something happens—you actively work to detect deviations before they develop into incidents. At the same time, you help establish procedures, routines, and processes for how our monitoring function will operate as the campus grows. About the Role As an operations monitor, you and your team are responsible for monitoring and following up on the technical systems that keep the data center running. You work in an environment where high availability is critical and where the right decisions at the right time have a direct impact on operations and our customers. Each shift begins with a structured handover where you create a shared situational picture, review ongoing events, and prioritize work. The majority of the role involves analyzing system status, monitoring trends, and detecting deviations before they become operational disruptions. Approximately 80 percent of the work is preventive, while the remaining part consists of handling incidents and coordinating appropriate actions when something occurs. You work with systems such as BMS (Building Management System), PME (Power Monitoring Expert), and other monitoring platforms where you analyze operational data, assess alarms, and collaborate with departments such as electrical, mechanical, operations, and other technical functions to ensure stable operations. For major incidents, you follow established processes for classification, escalation, and follow-up. This role is part of a completely new monitoring function being established in Borlänge. Together with your manager and colleagues, you develop routines, procedures, and processes while the campus grows and the number of systems, buildings, and customers increases progressively. Your main responsibilities: Monitor and analyze critical technical systems including electrical power, cooling, automation, and data center infrastructure Identify deviations and work proactively to prevent operational disruptions Handle, prioritize, and follow up on alarms and incidents according to established processes Coordinate measures with other departments and technical functions Ensure proper logging, documentation, and traceability of events Participate in developing routines, monitoring processes, and procedures Contribute to analysis, lessons learned, and continuous improvement work Who Are You? You have experience from technical operations, process monitoring, or other activities where high availability is critical and decisions need to be made based on technical information. You thrive in a role where analysis, structure, and problem-solving are just as important as technical understanding. You are curious and see connections between different systems. You don't settle for simply reacting when an alarm sounds—you want to understand why it occurred and how similar situations can be prevented. When multiple things happen at once, you stay calm, prioritize correctly, and communicate clearly with your team. As a person, you are responsible, structured, and unpretentious. You enjoy working closely with others and are motivated by being part of building a new function where procedures and routines are still being developed. You don't need to know everything from day one. What matters most is that you have a desire to learn, take responsibility for your work, and enjoy working with others to find solutions. We value diverse backgrounds and experiences and believe the best results are created when people with different perspectives work together. If you recognize yourself in parts of the role but don't meet every point in the requirements profile, we still encourage you to apply. Qualifications Technical education in, for example, electrical engineering, automation, energy, cooling technology, or equivalent work experience Several years of experience in technical operations, process monitoring, or other operational technical activities Experience handling alarms, deviations, or incidents in mission-critical operations Strong technical understanding of complex technical systems Ability to analyze information and make structured decisions under time pressure Excellent knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing Ability to work shifts, including evenings and nights Merits It is meritorious if you have experience or knowledge within one or more of the following areas: Experience from data centers or other critical infrastructure Experience with BMS, SCADA, PME, or other monitoring systems Experience with electrical power, backup power, UPS, automation, or cooling systems Experience working in a control room or Network Operations Center (NOC) Experience with incident management according to established processes Other Information You will report to the Critical Infrastructure Systems Director.
