Job Description & Offer
Scandic Hotels is the leading hotel chain in the Nordic region with a strong focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, and smart facilities management. We are now seeking an Operations Engineer who wants to take comprehensive responsibility for optimizing energy consumption across our hotels in the Stockholm area.
In this role, you will work both strategically and operationally across 28 hotels in Stockholm, where each property has its own technical conditions, contracts, and energy requirements. You will be based at the hotel closest to your residence but will travel between our hotels to analyze, follow up on, and develop operations.
This is a key role where your work directly impacts both the hotels' finances and Scandic's sustainability efforts.
About the Role:
As an Operations Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring energy-efficient and well-functioning technical operations at our hotels. You will work closely with the hotels' local technicians, property owners, and external service partners.
You will not personally perform routine maintenance or repairs, but will function as a technical specialist, advisor, and resource for the local operations teams. The role may also require you to perform practical work on-site at the hotels when needed, such as adjusting, troubleshooting, or servicing equipment.
Your main responsibilities:
• Analyze energy consumption and identify improvement and cost-saving opportunities
• Optimize ventilation, heating, and cooling systems for best operational efficiency and guest comfort
• Work with control and monitoring systems to ensure efficient operations
• Troubleshoot and address technical operational issues
• Ensure that hotels' inspection routines and operational processes function according to established standards
• Plan and follow up on preventive maintenance together with the hotels' technicians
• Coordinate and monitor external contractors and service providers
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety regulations, and inspections
• Provide technical expert support for renovation and investment projects
• Contribute to the development of Scandic's long-term energy and sustainability efforts
Candidate Profile
We believe you have experience with energy efficiency in hotels or commercial properties.
We are looking for someone who combines technical expertise with an analytical approach. You enjoy understanding how different systems work together and are driven by finding improvements that deliver measurable results.
To succeed in this role, we believe you:
• Have experience with facilities management, energy optimization, or technical installation systems
• Have good understanding of HVAC systems (ventilation, heating, and cooling)
• Have experience with control and regulation systems
• Are comfortable analyzing data and translating insights into concrete actions
• Are self-driven and comfortable with significant responsibility
• Find it easy to build trust and collaborate with technicians, contractors, and property owners
• Have strong proficiency in Swedish and English
Scandic offers excellent benefits such as subsidized breakfast and lunch every day, free access to the gym at the hotel, great discounts when booking hotels – both for yourself and your loved ones, and several other benefits.
