Your Tasks As a PhD candidate in inorganic materials chemistry, you will conduct research in thin film deposition using CVD techniques, particularly with surface chemistry activated by plasma electrons. The focus will be on depositing metals for electrical interconnections in semiconductor chips. As a PhD candidate, you will pursue your doctoral education and research projects. Your work may also include teaching or participation in other departmental assignments, up to 20 percent of full-time. Your Qualifications You have a master's degree in chemistry and materials science, or completed courses of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits at the advanced level in chemistry and materials science, or in some other way acquired substantially equivalent knowledge. We are looking for someone who is curious about materials research at the interface between chemistry and physics and wants to develop and understand new CVD techniques. We believe you are a meticulous and analytical person with great intrinsic drive to explore unknown chemical processes on surfaces and in plasma discharges. You should have: - Experience working in a research laboratory - Experience with CVD where surface chemistry is activated by plasma electrons - Experience with in situ characterization of CVD processes It is advantageous if you have: - Experience studying and working in an international environment - Previous scientific publications Since the position involves both research and teaching, the ability to teach fluently in Swedish is a requirement. A statement of intent does not need to be attached. Your Workplace The Department of Chemistry conducts research and provides undergraduate and graduate education in chemistry. Of particular importance for this position is thin film deposition, which is an internationally recognized part of the research at Linköping University. The Department of Chemistry, through the inorganic chemistry research group, conducts research in thin film deposition with ALD and CVD at a high international level. Extension of employment up to five years is based on the degree of teaching and departmental assignments. Under special circumstances, further extension may occur. You will initially be employed for one year, and thereafter the employment will be renewed for at most two years at a time, based on progress in your study plan. Start date by agreement.
