The position is placed in the research group CIRCLE - Intervention Research in Health and Care. CIRCLE hosts the multidisciplinary, strategic research program U-CARE, http://www.ucare.uu.se. The overarching objectives of U-CARE are to: increase psychological well-being in those affected by illness by developing and implementing evidence-based, individually tailored and cost-effective behavioral interventions for healthcare; and improve the efficiency, benefit and value of clinical trials. Citizen engagement is a central part of all research within U-CARE. All research within U-CARE is conducted within national and international collaborations and our expertise in research methodology has been recognized in recent evaluations of research at Uppsala University.
Job Responsibilities
The person we are seeking should compile available literature on the representativeness of study populations in studies with alternative designs. The person should also, through retrospective and prospective studies, compare the representativeness of study populations in studies with alternative versus randomized controlled designs. The person should furthermore investigate the acceptance, feasibility and significance of alternative designs according to various groups such as patients, healthcare personnel and researchers. The project is conducted together with patients and healthcare personnel.
Job responsibilities also include disseminating research results through scientific publications and other channels and actively participating in the research group's seminars and meetings.
Other tasks related to teaching and administration at the Department of Women's and Children's Health may be added (max. 20%). The employment will be extended accordingly.
Qualifications
The person we are seeking should:
Have completed a degree at an advanced level in public health, behavioral science, pharmaceutical sciences, statistics or a closely related discipline.
Be eligible for doctoral-level education and have completed at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits at an advanced level including an independent project of at least 15 credits, or in some other way have acquired substantially equivalent knowledge.
Speak and write Swedish fluently.
Have an excellent ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
Have a very strong ability to take initiative and problem-solve, deliver according to agreed goals and timelines, prioritize among tasks and be thorough.
Have a very strong ability to professionally work independently and in a group in a collaborative environment and communicate with colleagues from different disciplines and professions.
Have a strong interest in multidisciplinary research and motivation to be an active member of a successful research group.
Have good knowledge of and previous experience working with qualitative and quantitative research methods as well as various software such as NVivo, R, SPSS, Stata, and MS Office.
Desirable/Meriting Experience
The following is meriting:
Experience in research including data collection and analysis and writing applications for research funding to funders and applications to the Research Ethics Committee.
Experience writing scientific publications.
Interest in continuously contributing to the development of the research group's activities.
Interest in continuously contributing to the research group's good working environment.
Interest in working with patient and citizen engagement.
Knowledge of and experience working with the research methods used in the project, for example quantitative methods (including statistical analyses), qualitative research methods and patient and citizen engagement.
Knowledge of and experience working with clinical research.
