We are accredited through AACSB. Subject Area for the Position: Business Administration with Focus on Logistics Work Location: Växjö. Since Linnaeus University is located in both Växjö and Kalmar, travel between the cities is included. Employment Scope and Period: The employment is time-limited according to HF 5 Chapter § 7. Full-time position. The Higher Education Ordinance (Chapter 5, Section 2) states that a person employed as a doctoral student shall primarily devote themselves to their own doctoral education. However, a doctoral student may, to a limited extent, work with education, research, and administration. Such work may not, before a doctoral degree has been obtained, constitute more than 20 percent of full doctoral student work time. Start Date: 2026-10-01 or by agreement. Job Description The doctoral student is expected to complete their thesis work within logistics, with a focus on the forest supply chain and its resilience to disruptions for long-term sustainability. The research shall investigate how actors can adapt to and benefit from technical innovations to strengthen their resilience. By analyzing challenges and opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises, the research contributes to strategies that promote a sustainable forest supply chain. The focus is on small and medium-sized actors in Småland, with the aim of creating knowledge about new technologies, such as machine learning. The research aims to develop solutions for a sustainable and resilient forest supply chain. The student will study a total of 240 credits (hp), of which 90 credits are courses and the thesis work is 150 credits. Graduate School GATE is a unique interdisciplinary initiative from the School of Business and Economics and the Faculty of Technology at Linnaeus University. The purpose of the graduate school is to address challenges posed by globalization, new technologies such as automation, digitalization, and AI, as well as environmental and climate issues for companies. The practical relevance of the thesis topic and research questions will be discussed in collaboration with companies in Småland. Qualification Requirements Basic eligibility is held by those who - have completed an advanced level degree - completed course requirements of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are at advanced level, or - in some other way within or outside the country acquired substantially equivalent knowledge. Special eligibility is held by those who: 1. have at least 90 credits in business administration, or subjects related to doctoral education in business administration, or have acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way, within or outside Sweden 2. have at least 60 credits at advanced level within logistics/supply chain management 3. Have demonstrated good knowledge of English and demonstrated good knowledge to express themselves orally and in writing in Swedish. Selection Criteria Selection will be made based on the applicant's ability to benefit from education at the research level. The assessment will consider the scientific skills documented in academic work, course grades, assessment of the applicant's prerequisites to complete education at the research level, and the relevance, originality, and feasibility of the thesis plan.
