Animal Care Specialist for Clinical Facility

Department of Clinical Sciences The clinical facility is part of the unit for clinical research and educational support. The operations primarily involve livestock species including horses, ruminants, pigs, and dogs. We are now seeking an animal care specialist with practical experience handling ruminants. We welcome your application! About the Job Your responsibilities will include daily care, feeding, and maintenance of primarily ruminants and horses, as well as pigs. The work also involves assisting teachers with instruction, examinations, treatments, and research. Your duties may include transporting animals and communicating with animal owners. You may be responsible for equipment and ordering supplies. The position includes facility sanitation and material maintenance. Working hours are daytime according to schedule and include weekends. Work at inconvenient times may occur. Your Background You are an animal care specialist or animal keeper with practical experience handling large ruminants. A class B driver's license is required. It is advantageous to have agricultural education and training in the transport of farm animals. Extended qualifications as an animal care specialist are also valued. Experience working in laboratory animal facilities, at animal hospitals, or with horses is also an asset. You communicate well in both spoken and written Swedish and have computer skills. The ability to communicate well in English is desirable. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and competencies such as teamwork ability, flexibility, independence, and service orientation. About Us The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research, and research education in the fields of veterinary medicine, animal care, and livestock science. The department's activities primarily focus on common Swedish domesticated livestock with emphasis on anesthesiology, diagnostic imaging, animal care, epidemiology, laboratory animal medicine, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and livestock reproduction.
