About the job Are you interested in a role as an animal welfare inspector? Do you have good knowledge of administrative law and experience with animal husbandry in primary production? Then you could be the colleague we're looking for! The main duties of the position are: Inspection of animal welfare concerning food-producing animals and companion animals. All animal species covered by the Animal Welfare Act can be inspected and several types of inspections are conducted. Administrative work such as registration of case documents, administrative case handling, and writing inspection reports. Processing of decisions according to the Animal Welfare Act. Handling of incoming cases according to the law on supervision of dogs and cats. The work is done both independently and in teams. To thrive in this role, a high degree of social competence with strong collaboration skills and flexibility is required. Animal welfare inspectors are part of the Veterinary and Animal Welfare Unit within the Rural Affairs Department. Our vision is Healthy and thriving animals for safe food. The Rural Affairs Department's main task is to promote sustainable, efficient and environmentally adapted agriculture, sustainable rural development, fishing development, and veterinary and animal welfare matters. You have (requirements): Degree from an ethology and animal welfare program, degree from an agronomy program with focus on animals, or other education and/or work experience that the employer deems appropriate. Good knowledge of animal husbandry in primary production. Knowledge and ability to independently plan and conduct inspections both administratively and in the field. Knowledge and ability to independently write inspection reports and decisions and receive feedback on these. Knowledge and ability to handle difficult conversations and communicate uncomfortable decisions. Good ability to express yourself clearly both orally and in writing. B-class driver's license. We would like it if you have (merits): Practical experience working (employed/internship during education) with production animals or companion animals in a larger operation for at least 6 months. Worked as an animal welfare inspector. Good knowledge of and application of administrative law. Good knowledge of and application of animal welfare legislation. Good knowledge of and application of the supervision law for dogs and cats. Experience with case handling at government agencies and/or worked with supervision.
