Animal Caretaker / Instructor, Pig Production

At Önnestadsgymnasiet, we offer five specializations and a total of 9 vocational pathways within our agricultural program. We study and teach agriculture for real through our specializations in forestry, animal care, nature tourism, equine management, and farming. The tone between staff and students is personal, classes are small, and both our facilities and educational grounds are of high quality. Since 2010, Hushållningssällskapet Skåne has been the main operator of Önnestadsgymnasiet, which provides a stable and secure foundation for our operations. We have just over 50 employees working in coordination for our 230 students. Önnestadsgymnasiet is located 8 km northwest of Kristianstad. About the Position As an animal caretaker/instructor in pig production, you will play an important role in the daily operations of the school's pig barn while contributing to student learning and development. You work closely with both students and colleagues and help create a learning-focused, safe, and professional environment where theory is applied in practice. Your duties include caring for the pig herd, feeding, monitoring and documentation, as well as supervising students in their practical work. You will also participate in planning and implementing instruction in pig production and contribute to developing the operation together with the school's other staff members. About You We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in pig production who thrives in a role that combines animal husbandry with supporting and inspiring young people. You are responsible, organized, and able to plan and prioritize your work independently. As a person, you are pedagogical and communicative with a positive approach. You work well with both students, colleagues, and external contacts and see the value in sharing your knowledge and experience. You contribute to a good work environment and enjoy working in an operation where development, engagement, and collaboration are in focus. We are looking for someone who has: · At least upper secondary education · At least 3 years of relevant professional experience · B-category driver's license · Good knowledge of animal welfare, animal health, and daily barn care · Ability to work independently and take responsibility for assigned tasks · Good collaboration skills and an interest in working with young people in an educational environment It is advantageous if you have: · Post-secondary education in agriculture, animal production, or another relevant field · Breeding authorization or other specialized expertise in pig production · Experience working in an agricultural secondary school or other educational operation · Certification for wheel loader, tractor, or other relevant machinery What We Offer: At Önnestadsgymnasiet, you will encounter an engaged and collaborative culture where curiosity and work enthusiasm are central.
