Our Operations
Molecular Diagnostics and Clinical Genetics is an expanding operation at Rudbeck Laboratory in Uppsala. We are an accredited, highly specialized facility that performs diagnostics of congenital and acquired genetic deviations and offers genetic counseling with patient visits. Currently, approximately 100 people work at the clinic with healthcare, research and development. The operation is accredited according to ISO 15189 and environmentally certified according to ISO 14001. Within the molecular pathology part of the operation, clinical analyses of hematological and solid tumors are performed using modern molecular methods.
We are now looking for a PhD Molecular Biologist for our operation.
Are We Right for You?
Do you want to contribute to the future of precision diagnostics in a highly specialized clinical operation? With us, you will have a key role in working with molecular diagnostic methods such as massive parallel sequencing (MPS/NGS) and ddPCR and qPCR, as well as interpretation and review of these analyses. In your work, you will work closely with other molecular biologists, BMA, pathologists, bioinformaticians and other staff in a role that is a mission-critical part of diagnostics.
The position combines laboratory work with analysis, interpretation and reporting of results from existing analyses, primarily within solid tumor diseases. We also see that you are interested in contributing to supervision and training of, for example, BMA and ST doctors. We strive for high quality in our work and in this role you will participate in developing and establishing routines for both quality-assured and efficient production. Over time, there is an opportunity to participate in projects involving development, validation and accreditation of existing analyses, or implementation of new methods for use in clinical routine. With us, you will become part of an engaged workplace with high competence, strong collaboration and a clear focus on quality, innovation and patient benefit.
Are You Right for Us?
We are looking for someone who holds a PhD in molecular biology or equivalent subject, with practical experience from clinical molecular pathology operations. You have experience with modern sequencing techniques, with a focus on MPS/NGS and/or Oxford Nanopore sequencing, as well as ddPCR. It is also meritorious to have experience with interpretation of genetic variants. Knowledge of quality assurance, validation and work in regulated or accredited operations is also an advantage. You need to be able to express yourself well in Swedish in speech and writing as you will work closely with laboratory staff and doctors in the clinical daily routine and as you will be able to formulate clinical responses in Swedish.
As a person, you are analytical, thorough and responsible. You are comfortable working both independently and in close collaboration with others, and have the ability to translate technical expertise into solutions that work in clinical routine. We also value that you are organized, development-oriented and want to contribute to strengthening and further developing the operation with a focus on quality and patient benefit.
Our operation is in constant development, and we would like to see you want to participate in improvements that strengthen quality for both patients and employees. In the recruitment, we make an overall assessment of competence, experience and personal suitability, and we are looking for you who has the best conditions to contribute to both the task and the continued development of the operation.
