Our Operations The medical technology field is currently experiencing major and very rapid development. The Medical Products Agency's Medical Technology Business Area has the important task of ensuring that products are safe and suitable for their intended purpose and that they are available on the market. We are responsible for supervising medical technology products and working to ensure that market actors have good conditions to comply with applicable regulations. We disseminate knowledge, promote innovation, and develop regulations, provide support regarding product availability, and appoint and oversee notified bodies. With technological development and increased digitalization, our mandate is expanding into additional areas such as cybersecurity, AI, information security, and health data management. To meet development and increased expectations, we established the Medical Technology Business Area on January 1, 2026, currently consisting of approximately 80 employees distributed across three units and a staff office. We are on a development journey where we are establishing the new organization and preparing for continued growth. We operate in a multidisciplinary environment in close collaboration with healthcare, industry, and other authorities in Sweden and other European countries. Your Tasks As director of the newly established Medical Technology Business Area, you have a large and strategically important change mandate. Since both the organization and the medical technology field are growing and developing rapidly, you have a central role in developing structures, priorities, work methods, and culture together with your management team. The focus is also on working with utility and effect from an external perspective with Sweden's public and animal health in view, as well as developing communication and collaboration with relevant actors. You also have, together with your management team, an important role in strategic cooperation with EU member states to contribute to harmonized implementation of the regulations in the field. Formally, you are responsible for budget, planning, implementation, and follow-up within the Medical Technology Business Area. You have personnel responsibility for four unit heads and an administrator. You report directly to the Director General, are part of the agency's management group, and thus have responsibility for actively contributing to the entire Medical Products Agency's mission and development. Your Background We are looking for someone who has: substantial and current management and leadership experience from a knowledge-intensive organization within life science, experience leading management teams and leading through others, experience successfully driving strategic development issues and long-term change work, current experience of and good knowledge about the medical technology field, and relevant academic degree, for example in medicine or engineering. Beyond this, we see it as an advantage if you have: experience from the medtech industry, government agencies, or healthcare, preferably larger and complex operations with an international character, experience with regulatory work related to medical technology products, and experience with supervisory work as well as preparedness and continuity. You have excellent command of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
