For the role of Director of Engineering – Nordics in a Data & AI Services organization, the position is a combination of technical leadership, delivery ownership, client engagement, people leadership, and regional growth. Key Roles & Responsibilities 1. Engineering & Technology Leadership Define and drive the engineering strategy for the Nordics Data & AI business. Lead the architecture and delivery of modern Data, AI, Cloud, and Analytics solutions. Establish engineering standards, best practices, reusable frameworks, and quality processes. Provide technical direction across Data Engineering, AI/ML, Data Platforms, GenAI, Analytics, and real-time data solutions. Stay current with emerging technologies and identify opportunities to bring innovation to clients. Drive adoption of modern data platforms and technologies, including Databricks, cloud platforms, AI/ML, and GenAI. 2. Delivery & Customer Success Own technical delivery quality across the Nordics portfolio. Partner with customers and stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate them into scalable technology solutions. Act as a senior technical advisor for strategic customers and complex engagements. Ensure projects are delivered with high standards of quality, security, performance, and scalability. Support delivery teams in resolving complex technical and architectural challenges. Establish governance around delivery, technical risks, dependencies, and project quality. 3. Pre-Sales & Business Growth Partner with Sales and Account Management teams to drive Data & AI consulting and services growth across the Nordics. Lead technical discussions, discovery workshops, solutioning, RFP/RFI responses, and client presentations. Develop compelling technical proposals and solution architectures aligned with customer business outcomes. Identify opportunities for new engagements, expansions, and transformation programs within existing accounts. Build trusted relationships with CTOs, CIOs, CDOs, and other senior technology stakeholders. 4. People & Engineering Organization Build and lead a high-performing Data & AI engineering organization across the Nordics. Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain strong engineering and architecture talent. Define career paths, competency frameworks, and technical growth opportunities. Create a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Develop future technical leaders and architects within the organization. Work closely with global engineering teams to create a unified delivery and engineering culture. 5. Practice & Capability Development Build and scale Data & AI capabilities based on market and customer demand. Develop reusable accelerators, frameworks, methodologies, and industry solutions. Strengthen expertise across areas such as: Data Engineering & Modern Data Platforms Databricks / Lakehouse Cloud Data Architecture AI & Machine Learning Generative AI & AI Agents Data Analytics & Visualization Real-Time Data & Streaming Data Governance & Quality Establish partnerships with key technology providers and ecosystem partners. 6. Regional Leadership Represent the engineering organization and Data & AI capabilities across the Nordic region. Develop relationships within the Nordic technology and data community. Participate in industry events, customer forums, conferences, and technology communities. Identify emerging market trends and translate them into new service offerings and capabilities. Collaborate with global leadership to align Nordic priorities with the broader company strategy. Ideal Candidate Profile 18+ years of experience in software/data engineering, architecture, or technology leadership. 8+ years in an engineering leadership, architecture leadership, or senior technology management role. Strong experience delivering Data & AI transformation programs for enterprise customers. Deep understanding of modern data platforms, cloud technologies, AI/ML, and GenAI. Strong Databricks/Lakehouse experience is highly desirable. Proven experience managing and scaling engineering teams. Strong client-facing and executive communication skills. Experience in pre-sales, solutioning, RFPs, and technology consulting. Commercial mindset with an understanding of professional services and consulting businesses. Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on enough to guide complex technical decisions. Experience working across distributed/global teams. Nordic market experience and/or an established network in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, or Finland would be a strong advantage
