Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) announces an open competition for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences (FFES) (for a fixed term of 5 years from the date of appointment)
Basic requirements for candidates for the LBTU FFES Dean position:
Doctoral degree in sciences (preferably in the Faculty's fields of activity)
Impeccable reputation (i.e., there is no reason for well-founded doubts about the candidate's impeccable reputation and no evidence to the contrary)
Experience in management and/or administrative work
Understanding of university operations that allows participation in developing and implementing its development strategy
Knowledge of regulations governing higher education and scientific activities
Excellent communication and professional interpersonal skills
Leadership and personnel management skills with the ability to motivate a team
Language proficiency:
State language at native or at least C1 level;
English at least B2 level (to ensure international projects, university representative functions, and cooperation with international partners)
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Excellent digital skills
Key job duties and tasks:
Ensure academic and administrative leadership of the Faculty
Develop and implement the Faculty's strategic direction in research and innovation
Promote the development of high-quality study programs
Promote interdisciplinarity in studies and research
Represent the Faculty in the university, in Latvia, and internationally
Plan and control the Faculty's budget and efficient use of resources
Promote and organize cooperation with other LBTU structural units
Perform personnel planning and development, ensuring qualified personnel growth, sustainable operations, and succession
Cooperate with international organizations
Ensure and promote cooperation with industry representatives in the Faculty's fields of activity

Vision for FFES strategic development with defined key performance indicators (KPIs) in LBTU's overall ecosystem (no more than 2 A4 pages)
Copy of a document certifying a doctoral degree in sciences (if the doctoral degree was obtained abroad, attach a document confirming its academic recognition in Latvia)
Personally signed confirmation of compliance with the FFES Dean position, which also includes a confirmation of the candidate's impeccable reputation (Appendix to the Competition Regulations)
