invites applications for the position of Data Protection Specialist
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, coordinate, and organize data protection security measures for Jelgavas valstspilsētas pašvaldība, its institutions, and as a data controller in defined areas of responsibility, including:
1.1. participate in the development and implementation of personal data protection strategy;
1.2. provide consultative and organizational support to the controller in identifying security risks, analyzing them, and implementing measures to mitigate and prevent data protection risks;
1.3. monitor the institution's compliance with data protection requirements;
1.4. develop recommendations for improving the institution's security measures in the field of data protection;
1.5. provide support in drafting internal regulatory acts and other internal documents required by the institution as a personal data controller when processing personal data
2. Inform and advise the controller, employees who process personal data, about data protection requirements in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and other EU or Member State regulations in the field of data protection, and provide advice upon request.
3. Monitor compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation and other EU or Member State requirements in the field of data protection and the controller's or processor's policy regarding personal data protection, including responsibility allocation, training of employees involved in processing activities.
4. Cooperate with the supervisory authority and serve as a contact person on matters related to personal data processing.
5. Advise the institution's employees on matters related to personal data protection security measures and report potential security incidents to the supervisory authority in accordance with applicable procedures.
6. Inform the institution about the need to conduct impact assessments and provide methodological and consultative support.
7. Conduct post-processing impact assessments and verify their compliance with the Regulation and other EU or Member State data protection provisions.
Requirements for Candidates:
Candidate has passed the data protection specialist qualification exam and is registered in the data protection specialists list;
Candidate holds citizenship of the Republic of Latvia;
Candidate has not been convicted of intentional criminal offenses and has not had guardianship established;
Candidate does not hold a position in institutions or commercial companies owned, legally controlled, or beneficially owned by a citizen of the Russian Federation or the Republic of Belarus;
Experience and knowledge in the field of data protection will be considered an advantage;
Higher legal education will be considered an advantage;
State language proficiency at the highest level (C2);
Good knowledge of foreign languages will be considered an advantage;
Desirable understanding of information technology management issues;
Excellent communication skills and ability to present publicly, conducting training;
Ability to work under high-intensity conditions, with large volumes and diverse information, ability to analyze it.

The position is classified at level III A of the 19th job family (11-month salary group) with a monthly salary up to 2128.00 euro.
