Data Architect / Data Engineer for the Employment and Social Services Administration

The Employment and Social Services Administration in Malmö City is now strengthening its capabilities in data, AI, and machine learning. To succeed, we need to ensure that the right information is available, maintains high quality, and is handled in a secure and legal manner. We are therefore seeking a Data Architect / Data Engineer who wants to take a key role in developing our data platform and information management. With us, you will work with complex and socially critical data, where technical solutions need to be balanced against requirements for privacy, information security, and legislation. You will become part of the Digitalization Unit and work closely with analysts, machine learning specialists, information architects, and business experts. Together, you will create the conditions for better decision-making and the development of welfare. Work Responsibilities In this role, you are responsible for developing and maintaining the technical and architectural prerequisites for the administration's data management. Examples of work responsibilities: Contribute to the design and further development of data warehouses and data lakes. Develop information models and structures that support analysis, AI, and machine learning. Work with data quality, metadata, and data cataloging. Ensure that data is handled in accordance with legislation, confidentiality requirements, and information security principles. Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term development of the administration's data platform. Collaborate with Malmö City's central Data and Analytics function and external system vendors. Responsible for making data from business systems available through APIs and data platforms. There may be work tasks outside of data engineering, such as system integration. An important part of the assignment is to specify requirements and participate in developing technical solutions that enable future use of advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning, while maintaining high standards for privacy and security. The role encompasses work tasks in data architecture and data engineering, while employment occurs in the IT Specialist position. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has a strong interest in data architecture and data engineering and who wants to use your expertise to create social value. To be a suitable candidate for this position, we see that you have: Relevant higher education or university degree, or equivalent experience that the employer deems equivalent. Several years of professional experience working with databases and SQL. Professional experience developing data flows, integrations, or data pipelines. Professional experience with data warehouses, data lakes, or other data management platforms. Professional experience with information modeling or data architecture. A strong understanding of how data needs to be structured and managed for use in analytics, AI, and machine learning. Very good ability to communicate in Swedish, both spoken and written. Good ability to understand and learn technical literature and specialized materials in English. It is advantageous if you have experience with: Azure Data Factory. Python. API development and system integration. Information security, data governance, and data quality. GDPR, confidentiality matters, or other regulated information management. Public sector, particularly social services or other operations handling sensitive personal data. Who Are You?
