As part of this shift, we are now seeking a data analyst for the Analysis Unit – a role for you who wants to transform data into insights, decision support, and concrete business value within an important societal mission: accessible, navigable, and safe maritime traffic. The Analysis Unit is a relatively newly established unit at the Swedish Maritime Administration and currently consists of BI developers and analysts. The unit has a government-wide mandate to integrate, process, analyze, and make data accessible. We support all departments of the Swedish Maritime Administration with knowledge, expertise, and products in the data and analytics field. Job Responsibilities This is a position for you who wants to work close to operations, methodically and analytically, while also helping to develop the Swedish Maritime Administration's analytical capabilities. You work with the entire analysis chain – from understanding business questions and assessing data possibilities to conducting analyses, visualizing results, and formulating conclusions that can be translated into governance, monitoring, and business development. As a data analyst at the Swedish Maritime Administration, your tasks include: transform business needs into clear analysis questions, hypotheses, and methodological approaches identify, process, combine, and quality assure data from different sources conduct quantitative and statistical analyses of, for example, trends, correlations, deviations, variation, volumes, costs, forecasts, and effects select, apply, and explain relevant analysis methods based on the question, data quality, and area of use assess and report uncertainties, assumptions, limitations, and possible sources of error in the analyses produce analysis materials, visualizations, and conclusions that can be used in governance, monitoring, and business development contribute to the development of the Swedish Maritime Administration's overall analytical capabilities through working methods, methods, and quality assurance within data and analytics You will have the opportunity to help build a modern analytics and decision support capability where data, analysis, and operations meet to create value for the entire agency. You will be part of a strategically important area with the opportunity to influence both your own role and our working methods, priorities, and continued development. Who Are You? To be suitable for this position, you should have: academic education of at least 180 credits in, for example, statistics, national economics, business administration, systems science, computer science, industrial economics, social science with quantitative focus, or other education that the Swedish Maritime Administration considers equivalent at least three years of current professional experience in qualified analytical work, where you have independently processed data, conducted analyses, and produced decision-making or analysis materials tailored to target groups experience translating business questions into clear analysis questions, hypotheses, variables, limitations, and methodological approaches experience using statistical methods to analyze, for example, trends, correlations, deviations, variation, volumes, costs, forecasts, or effects experience assessing and reporting uncertainties, assumptions, methodological choices, limitations, and quality in conducted analyses experience using R, Python, or equivalent script-based analysis environments for data processing, statistical analysis, visualization, or automation experience with SQL or equivalent query language to retrieve, structure, combine, and quality assure data from databases, data warehouses, or other relevant data sources experience presenting analysis results in a way that conclusions, interpretations, and possible courses of action become understandable and useful for different target groups very good ability to express yourself in Swedish in speech and writing, and good ability to express yourself in English It is a merit if you have: experience with forecast models, regression analysis, scenario analysis, optimization, or quantitative impact analysis experience with analytical work where machine learning methods have been used for, for example, prediction, classification, segmentation, or identification of patterns and deviations experience with Power BI or equivalent visualization and decision support tools experience with development-oriented analytical work in cross-functional teams We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities. We are looking for someone who is analytical, structured, and has a good ability to see patterns, interpret relationships, and draw well-founded conclusions. You are initiative-taking and self-directed, with a clear drive to create value through data and analysis. The role involves many contact points within the Swedish Maritime Administration. Therefore, you need to be communicative, collaboration-oriented, and able to explain complex relationships clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
