The Swedish Armed Forces is in an expansion phase and on a comprehensive growth journey. The Swedish Armed Forces' cyber defense is integrated as part of military defense and constitutes a military-strategic resource. Cyber defense has the capability to conduct offensive and defensive cyber operations as well as to detect, identify, and counter threats from the most qualified actors. The effects of a cyber attack can have consequences for critical societal functions equivalent to a conventional armed attack. The Cyber Defense Unit is looking for you—someone with extensive, solid experience and expertise in the cybersecurity craft. You are a person who is passionate about your profession, constantly curious, and wants to stay one step ahead of an adversary. Our unit must be prepared to face an opponent at the state actor level. Our operations require high precision and expert competence; therefore, we are looking for the best in cybersecurity. Key areas of expertise include detection development, threat hunting, incident handling, and penetration testing at a highly complex level. As a cybersecurity specialist with us, you need to be prepared to defend Sweden and our allies both within and outside Sweden's borders. You need to be solution-oriented and able to shift focus when needed. We often work in different team constellations, which places demands on good collaboration skills among our specialists. To meet and stay ahead of an adversary requires both continuous knowledge development and competence transfer between specialists. Examples of main work tasks Detection development Defendability analysis Terrain analysis Threat hunting Log analysis/log monitoring CTI, tactical-technical level Mentoring junior staff Qualifications Many years of professional experience in operational cybersecurity work University education in IT or equivalent competence as determined by the employer Have served in the role of team lead or equivalent Swedish citizen Category B driver's license Specialized knowledge and proven experience in one of the following areas: Detection development Terrain analysis Reverse engineering Threat hunting Penetration testing CTI Meritorious Completed military basic training Other relevant vocational training Personal qualities We see that you, as an applicant, want to continue working hands-on with the technology. The work also includes continuous basic military capability, as our personnel have combatant status. Those without military basic training will undergo the Swedish Armed Forces' general training (AMU) in order to gain a basic understanding of military operations and personal proficiency. Being at the highest level also requires good health. As an employer, we support good health by allocating 3 hours of physical training per week and access to certain healthcare. Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees—both professional officers and civilian experts. Since January 1, 2023, Headquarters has consisted of the Defense Staff, the Operational Command, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, and the Headquarters' Staff Division and independent oversight units. Employment with us involves placement in a security classification. Swedish citizenship is typically required. A security clearance with background check will be conducted before employment in accordance with Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment includes an obligation to be wartime-stationed.
